the Pandemic came and blasted all the plans i had for anything to do with them, actually i forgot about them, but they are sitting in my closet now for about 4 years, so i am quite sure they are dead.

how do i dispose of them properly? i do not think the normal battery recycling bins would be appropriate.

    Thanks

edit just realized... im talking Battery Modules. for the high voltage battery. the prismatic 7.2v things.

How many modules? I've restored modules that have been sitting longer than 4 years... The ones with negative voltage can be recovered, but can't be use in a Prius anymore... The ones that still have positive voltages can be charged up and reconditioned no problem...

If I were you I'd take a voltmeter to them and the ones with negative voltages I'd take one handful at a time to the recycling bin for NiMH batteries at HomeDepot or Lowe's. But make sure to put some tape over the terminals.

As for the rest of the modules, I'd get on craigslist and find someone who does hybrid battery refurbishing and tell them you got rid of the bad ones and want to give the other ones to them for free. They like to have a library of modules in various states of aging so as to better match the right replacement module with the right pack.
