I winter in fl and in the beginning of December, someone ran the red light and I was hit. Insurance wants to total the car with 3500 of damage. I could buy her back but after visiting Tampa hybrids, I found 08 touring with 89200 miles. Tod put new batteries and tires. It had 5000 mile oil changes from day at the dealership. Because my 269k mile car is still on the original batteryand I knew I would have to do it at sometime, I decided to purchase the new car. I am thinking of still buying her back and then selling her to 2k.
Yeah you could always buy it back for whatever and then just sell it off and parts or whatever but it sounds like 269,000 mi you know what in reality is really good on the car The brakes should be going out at any time if they haven't already so luckily you haven't had to pay for that You're on a original or second battery who knows so that needs to be done so they're the two most valuable parts on this model pretty much that are known to be not and then $3,500 worth of damage I'd have to see pictures that's like 3500 maybe a front fender a bumper cover possibly a hood down in Georgia you could probably get the parts off the same color car if you shop two junk yards.
Yes it needs the hood, bumper, and fender. All parts are at the junk yard in the correct color code. Tod has everything I need but the bumper. He thinks it perfect for a pizza delivery guy the way it is. I would post pictures but for some reason I keep getting error messages. I tried cropping the file but that didn't work.
It doesn't really matter there's a bunch of these kinds of these up here in North Carolina with dented fenders I got one with a dented fender drive it everyday but it's battery is good and break actuator is good and there's no lights on except for the catalytic converter code below threshold but I live in the state with no emissions or at least in the county with no emission so I can have a pipe there if I want etc It's still the factory cat it's just wore out enough that it can't pass the Prius on board test.
When you know the numbers the old car is probably not worth dealing with. If you part it there will not be a return you might expect. Cat and battery may add up to 750 and after that it will be a 10-20 dollar thing. Then you have to get rid of the carcass, many scrappers will not want it without the cat. If you fix it the car will have an R title requiring additional inspection to put it on the road.
that's not always the case, if you bough it back from insurance and have the title (didn't send it to insurance company) then the title will always be clean as if nothing happened. If a police report was filed then it might show up publicly on vehicle reports as an accident (carfax, etc..) but the car will always have a clean title (not salvaged)
This might not be accurate for cars. When they stole my catalytic converter I had the discussion with the insurance adjuster and specifically said that if they total the car, they have to reissue a salvage title and I can buy the car again from them by subtracting the value from my insurance payment. The value would be what they usually get at insurance auctions but the car would never leave my house or run thru an auction, just the title would be salvage. Anyway, they paid $3800 for a new Toyota catalytic converter without totaling the car.
No clue. Site owner was last here December 13th, and upload has been broken since November 30. The permanent link at top of each page chronicles this saga.
Well if it's a Massachusetts car there may not be a whole lot of takers when I lived in Massachusetts cars generally made about 3 years no matter where they were stored If they went on the road especially in the winter a Toyota didn't stand a chance strut towers would get eaten out so on and so forth maybe with climate change now things are different up there It's been years since I've lived and had to deal with that weather like since '83 but I would never go to Massachusetts to buy a car I would leave Massachusetts and come to North Carolina where I am now and buy cars and take them back to Massachusetts 3 years come back and get another one or two.
The history of my car is this: it originally was purchased in the fort lauderdale area. It lived there for 6 years. Some how it ended up at a small suburb gas station in boston. The person who bought it immediately took it to Maryland for 3 years then decided to sell it. There was no rust since I have owned it. I started to go to fl it's 1st winter with me. If the roads were bad or had just snowed while I was up north, I drove the ravy instead. It still doesn't have rust. I am thinking of buying it back and reselling it while in fl for 2500.00 opinions?
Yes my $700 car near perfect condition for its age silver 08 is the same story It just never made it to New England for any reason and I just bought it I don't know a few months ago for $700 The lady was being told that was going to cost several thousand to fix It needed the speedometer repaired and I'm trying to think what else I did to it this is the car I drove to put a 12 volt battery in it and drove it home oh I replaced the HV battery with the rebuilt from a local guy here that rebuilds batteries that I do business with now it stays in the green drives great gets 46 mi to the gallon regularly and I had to put my other half in it to get her out of that money pit of the Gen 3 that she was in and she still hemming and hawing about she's going to fix her Gen 3 I'm like not from that arm chair you're not. Well I've got a persona in the yard a 13 and 10 times the shape is her solar roof 2010 and I'm not even going to fix that It's just not worth anybody's trouble That's the long and short of it. You going to get $2,300 in Florida for it I guess someone has to drive there with it so I guess you're going there anyway so there's always that I don't really think that would be a real reality if the cars in real nice shape even hell right in the middle of the pandemic I bought an '09 for $2,000 that was driving and pretty much untouched except for driving four people to work everyday and parking in a parking lot and Greensboro North Carolina and then coming back home for the 12 years they own the car they bought a Camry and I bought their Prius off Facebook marketplace no less. But that is then and this is now but I think the hullabaloo is kind of over.
that didn't happen so your claim is inaccurate, your car wasn't totaled. I have a Ford Taurus that I bought back from insurance due to being side swiped from a parking lot (it was totaled). I was able to resell it again using my original title and no history of accidents or being salvaged. My friend's Mazda Tribute got into a deer accident and he also bought it back from insurance and we did the repairs, I told him not to give the title to the insurance and just demand the money for repairs since the repair is easy. No salvage or accident in the history. Same issue with my other friends who claimed the repairs and bought back their vehicles.. no reports, no salvage title (as if nothing happened)
I think this kind of nonsense is mandated by the insurance chief of the given state whatever they call that person He gets to set the tone for how that kind of stuff will go We have salvage titles in North Carolina and no matter what you claim to do with your original paper title that you may not give up or whatever The government will put it in its computer system as such and that's that so you can sell the car with whatever paperwork you want when the cars looked up at the DMV for tax purposes and re-registration and all that it'll be marked as being salvaged as being paid off by insurance and all this and that now whatever that means to you as an individual well there's always that some states the insurance commissioner may not be in that frame of mind they may not care about salvage titles and all that and in those states you'll see a lot of funny business going on with cars they've had problems like this for years in various states and counties that have very little oversight.
What does this mean? Sounds like more than just brake pads wearing out. OK never mind I did a little searching/reading. Sounds crappy.
