Test drove a 2024 Prime

    on my bolt, the electronic brake releases when i put it in drive.

    i haven't tested the 2024 hycam, which might be the same as prime

    That is the default behaviour of the Prius, but it can be disabled. If you hold the brake switch in one position for a few seconds it toggles the automatic switching function.

    Do you get an indication on the dash as to the function being on or off? Any ongoing clues?

    It says something about enabling or disabling the shift interlock (?) as it makes the change, but there's no ongoing indication.

    It'd just be up to you to notice the state of the usual red (P) or PARK. And also the presence or absence of the quite obvious engage/disengage motor noise.

    (Actually, there might be some warning if you did actually try to drive with the parking brake on - I haven't tried it :) There are warnings about most things...)

    FWIW, my 2024 Prime ran like a rocket from the Portland dealership to home in Santa Rosa two days ago. Started out with 3% charge. So pretty much hybrid only for 600 miles. (They didn't give me the power cord) Passing was a breeze; actually too fast for my liking. Acceleration from start was great. Can't wait to get that power cord! Maybe something not quite right with that car.

    The car is fine. It's these ridiculous "reviews" where people say the G5 is slower than the G4 or (in another thread) raising the seat all the way up leaves the headrest only one inch from the headliner. Feeding the trolls keep them coming back.

    At least in Europe the supplied power cord was very high quality, I'm sure, but massively overkill, being 3-phase 32A (22kW). Hope you get a sensible one in the US. I ended up buying a 1-phase 20A one (4.6kW) just to have something more manageable. The original was bulkier, heavier, and less flexible.

    (PS did you know that cables signal their current capacity via a resistor on one of the control lines? Was geeky enough to check that on mine to confirm they were correct...)

    You might check under the floor in the back. If I remember correctly that is where mine was when I got my 2023 Prime.

    Thanks for the replies. There was a SNAFU during a Sunday pickup. “High value” cord locked away in Parts Dept., no one present had a key. Had to hit the road. Cable came a few days later via UPS. The rest is history, lovin’ the he!! out of EV!
