Lexus RZ Lineup for 2024 has a new Cheaper Version - RZ 300e

    What’s New: 2024 Lexus RZ - Lexus USA Newsroom

    As well as the RZ 450e, Lexus has introduced a, slightly, cheaper model, the RZ 300e. It is FWD only and starts at $55,150 MSRP. In a weird twist, the 2024 RZ 300e contains the 72.8 kWh CATL designed battery and the 201 HP motor found in the FWD BZ4X. The FWD BZ4X contains the Panasonic (actually a co-company with Toyota called Prime Planet Energy & Solutions (PPES)) developed 71.4 kWh battery. EPA range is 266 miles for the model with 18" wheels or MPGe 137/112/125 (city/highway/combined). 20" wheels drops the EPA figures to 224 miles range and MPGe 114/96/105.

    The 2024 RZ 450e carries on from the 2023 MY with the same 71.4 kWh PPES developed battery and 150 kW front motor and 80 kW rear motor AWD DIRECT4 system. Still only get 220 miles on 18" wheels and 196 miles on 20" wheels.

    There are some other cool incentives like a free 30-day rental of a regular vehicle. The 2024s also come standard with a dual-voltage EVSE, but as of yet no real specifics on how they are doing that other than "dual-voltage charging cable for 120V and 240V outlets". So I don't know if the dual-voltage plug is an 6-30P or 14-50P with an adapter for a 5-15P.

    The 2023 MY RZ 450e has seen some rather aggressive clearance cuts in pricing to get them to move in Upstate New York. If you lease it, you'll get an almost $3,200 discount plus a $15,000 lease cash making the total cost a little less than $49,000.

    No specifics on DC charging for the 300e there. I'm interested to see if the lower DC charge rate for the bZ4X AWD is because of the battery or the front motor choice.

    Battery and software. Toyota limited the number of fast DCFC charge cycles to 2 within a 24 hr period with the BZ4X AWD and lowered the overall rate of charge. I believe they fixed it, somewhat, with a software upgrade, so I'd assume we'll see the same limitations with the RZ 300e.

    Toyota fixed the DC charging rate for the 2024 MY AWD bZ4X (CATL manufactured 72.8 kWh battery) from 100 kW to 150 kW. I'm assuming the RZ 300e will charge at 150 kW as well as use the same fixes for cold weather DC charging Toyota applied to the 2024 bZ4X.
