I'm looking forward to buying a really cheap, beat up 20 year old Gen1 cybertruck in 2044. Then I'll install a Project Lithium upgrade pack and it'll be my favorite piece of equipment to get lots tree pruning & electric powered woodchipping work done!

I had similar thoughts when I bought my Nissan Leaf. But in the end, all replacement battery options only seemed to keep getting more expensive.

I'm just glad they are rolling out of the factory. Cyber Trucks in customer hands will soon enough show their strengths and weaknesses.

Not getting one. As a TSLA owner, I have an interest.

My requirements are cheap to drive with maximum driver assistance:

1. 2019 Model 3 with FSD - best car for cross country yet good in City.
2. 2017 BMW i3-REx, plain - best car for City, manual driving with highway capabilities.

The cyber truck cost more per mile, $12,000 FSD, and more volume and load capacity than I need.

There’s not much to it. Tesla sets the price, add your options, add your order fee and delivery cost, and voila.
It’s not like buying from a dealer.
If they don’t sell fast enough for production, Tesla will lower the price.
If they are hard to come by, early buyers will flip them at a profit

 

I've read there is some fine print in the cybertruck owner documentation that forbids owners from reselling the truck of a year or two.

Cybertruck accessories so far look interesting. The camping kit is so cool, but it's not cheap either.

Two 120 volt outlets and a 220-240 volt outlet in the back of the truck bed with a decent inverter powering them is a nice feature too.

 

Funny thing, I've only lost money on stock twice:

1. Bought stock in Cessna not realizing they were in the cross-hairs of civil liability lawyers.
2. Bought 'gold' stock to diversify and after losing a bit, moved what remained to TSLA.

Did I mention rounding up my TSLA stock holding with shares on 11/16/23 at $239.44? Hope it goes up someday.

With more than a 1k 4680 cells pushing 800 volts, I hope you'll have linemans gear to work on the electrical system and good documentation.

 

The typical threshold is 50 V which applied to even the 208 VDC Prius battery packs. It is not something unskilled people should work on.

Those poor slobs at seeking alpha. wondering how many of 'em have bet the farm w/ short sales - as in the past. That's what's great about stock manipulation - if you make the same bet enough times - eventually you may be right.

especially if there are 1.5 million hand raise'ers in front of you. iirc from prior events - Tesla setup wait lists for the Y & the 3 & x, typically there will be ½ the people drop out of the line for one reason or another. So good news! .... you only have to wait for ¾ million buyers in front of you

That wouldn't legally be too hard to do. For example - if all of the new vehicles are leased ... then the lessor simply has a clause stating a buyout transaction can only be between the lessor & lessee - for at least the 1st 2yrs.

Professor Kelly mentioned both AC and DC safety limits in his Gen 4 Prius Prime traction pack deep dive.
I think he mentioned that each 70 volt DC Prime bank was within the OSHA safety limit and 50 volts also sound correct of the AC rating.

 

It seems to have caught up to the Japanese Priuses which with an add-on can be used to power your house. The Japanese do it for earthquake readiness, Tesla I expect does it because Elon.
