Yeah you can't report a post just because you don't like what he's saying.

And @Gokhan , you can't complain when you barrage the Gen 5 forum with negative things to say about the Gen 5. How'd you like it if someone did that on the Prime forum?

Well, I thought it was an honest review. The only negative things I said were about the cabin size and trunk size, audio, steering feel and response on center, and the meter-gauge display, which are all commonly reported in reviews except for the on-center steering feel, but then test-driving is how you discover things not reported in car-blog reviews. Improvement in the accelerator/brake-pedal modulation at creeping speeds wasn't also well-reported, and I reported it in detail.

Nevertheless, some people won't tolerate any criticism of the car they own. As I said, I can care less about what they say about my Gen 4 Prius Prime—I know that it is a great car. If I owned a Gen 5 Prius Prime, I would still feel the same.

Oh your review is fine. As I commented somewhere on the first page, I thought it was balanced. I suppose the issue arises from the previous baggage that your review carried based on your past posts in the last few months since the launch of the Gen 5. I think that's what the other posters are bringing to the table and clouding their view of this review. Something to keep in mind.

I don't know what those posts were, but at the time, I mainly brought up the lower fuel economy, odd trim levels, and much higher price, the latter especially for the Prius Prime. Some even got offended when I said that I liked my Gen 4 Prius Prime's looks better, which is a subjective, personal thing. Some people overreact to even lack of appreciation of their cars, let alone criticism.

You are underestimtaing your presence in that particular thread in which you posted repeatedly arguing with everyone about the looks of the Gen 4 vs. the Gen 5. Considering that is the one thing pretty much everyone in the car-buying world agrees on (that the Gen 5 is the best looking Prius), your inability even to give on that was extremely tiresome. The Gen 4 I’m sure is a great car….it is a Toyota Prius after all and I’ve always loved my Toyotas. But it is a very odd looking car and instead of leaning into it the way I did with my Marvin Martian Prius or my little C, in which I embraced the ugliness and awkwardness, you couldn’t even do that.

Here is where I am coming from. I bought a '17 model when they came out and totally love it. Have had zero problems with it altho I only have 30K miles on it. I am seriously thinking about upgrading to the Gen5 sometime in the next 6 months. I have been reading this part of the PP forum to learn as much as I can about the Gen5. My local dealer is fairly clueless about PPs and even Prius. They had the latest Prius in the showroom, but wouldn't let me sit in it as they said it had already been sold. I asked if they had a brochure on the PP and they said Toyota no longer prints those. What I need to know is what model of the Gen5 I should choose. We usually buy the top model, as I have an Advanced 2017 PP, a Platinum Edition 2000Lexus 300ES and a limited 2002 4Runner. The main reason for that is to have the latest safety features. For the Gen5, I am suspect that the LE Model may suffice. I like the idea of 17" versus 19" wheels and have no desire for a glass roof. I suspect the cloth seats may also be more inviting. I am also looking at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or 6 and the Tesla Model 3 or Y. So here is my question: Is there a link where I can download an online brochure for the 2024 Prius Prime? Incidentally, if we upgrade, we would probably keep the '17 model and trade in the Lexus.

It's totally cool you like your Gen 4, there's even a special board on this forum for you.
    You should check it out!
    Totally valid and fair.
But you wouldn't come here and shit on every thread and the people that bought one I'm assuming?

As far as I know there's no online brochure other than what the Toyota website provides.
I looked there and all the auto mag reviews.
I have the AWD LTD, feel free to ask me anything about it as it is fully loaded.

I guess that's what offended people.

I can care less about the looks of the car I drive.

Some people hate Prius or any other EV because they think it looks like a hippie car or a green/liberal-person car. I forgot the name my conservative friend used for the person whom he thought should probably be driving the BMW i3 we saw (@bwilson4web, that is you), but it was a derogatory name that sounded like a hippie. I doubt Gen 5 changes the opinion of those even a bit. Conservatives will still think that it is a weird-looking hippie EV, especially when they see the large Prius badge on the back. I am glad that you like its looks though.

Get the Prius Prime SE if you trade in, not the Prius LE. It wouldn't feel good to downgrade from a PHEV to an HEV.

Though I'm sure if you'll find much more in the brochure than is on the Prius site.

Thank you sir for that link. Not sure why I thought the base model was LE instead of SE. Looking closely at the included items and options, I think the SE will be just fine for me. As long as it has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 with the dynamic cruise control , the blind spot monitor and the rear traffic alert that my present car has, I am happy. The rear traffic alert has helped many times when backing out of a parking space between two SUVs. Not sure if I would order the front and rear parking assist as I have that, but have never used it with my '17 model. The only thing missing on any model is the surround or birds eye view cameras that I saw once on a Rav4 Prime. I would pay extra for that.

TSS 2.0 became available on Gen 4 Prius Prime in the 2021 model year, which brought lane-tracing assist. TSS 3.0 introduces more features. Moreover, unlike Gen 5 Prius, Gen 5 Prius Prime has front corner radars, which enables front-traffic collision alert, lane-change assist, traffic-jam assist, etc.

Parking sensors are standard on all Gen 5 Prius and Prius Prime models despite what the Toyota website and brochure say.

Panoramic-view monitor (PVM) is only part of an expensive package on XSE Premium, which brings the MSRP to $42,100.

Thanks, Gokhan. You encouraged me to break out my owner's manual and learn that my car has sensors around the car for intuitive parking assist. I had never turned it on so will check it out tomorrow.

Really? They autobrake and saved me from damaging my rear bumper on a few occasions.

Interesting, I was considering Tesla M3/Y or Ioniq 5 as well but decided for a Prime in the end. The situation in Europe is different though as the Teslas are usually cheaper compared to the very nicely speced Primes. Ioniq 5 would have been slighlty more expensive.

I just said I put a clear 70 percent tint. The high beams look weak. My Ioniq has 800 dollar upgraded headlights that have 4x the lumen output as the new Prius.

I found the headlights were aimed too low. You can see the cutoff but the problem is you can't see anything beyond. I adjusted mine up slightly and it made a big difference. It's easy to do but you have to be careful with the adjustment as you don't want to blind oncoming drivers.

But you won't buy it - and you shouldn't. There will be some last minute issue before you put ink to paper - the price, a crease in the upholstry, a scratch on the bumper, something will make you walk away. And I truly hope you do walk away.

Because if you do drive one home we won't ever hear the end of complaining about every little thing that you don't like and how you wish you'd never traded in your perfect jewel. "When I hold my foot at a 38 degree angle while wearing dress shoes on a rainy day my pinky toe touches the sidewall and causes a safety issue because I might not press the gas pedal correctly."

Yea, every one of us could name a thing we wish was a little better - for example I wish the Qi charger actually worked with my phone case, it was a feature I was truly excited about. And I wish I hadn't lost trunk space going from the G2 to G5. But I accept those things because there are a hundred other things that are far better than my G2.

Honest reviews are great and welcome - but your review could never have been honest or taken with sincerity by anyone who's been reading your posts for longer than a month. Before you ever did a test drive you were parroting negative online reviews - I'm not sure you could ever make an objective review that wasn't tainted by negativity. You didn't test drive the G5 long enough and without getting on a highway you didn't experience the true acceleration of this Gen. But maybe you don't ever use highways, so that might not be important. The center steering thing is the only unique thing you brought to the table that I hadn't heard before - and that's a very specific niche complaint. Your statements suggest that you have very refined tastes and very high expectations - you should probably be shopping for a luxury vehicle designed for finnicky drivers.

You have agreed with the sentiment that you haven't owned your current vehicle long enough to justify buying a car, so you definitely shouldn't be buying a car you only kind-of like. You've indicated many times that your jewel is superior in many ways, why would you buy a G5? I think you just say you're thinking of buying one to give some legitimacy to your presence in this forum.

You don't like this generation enough to buy one - embrace and accept that truth. Go back to the G4 forums and stop your trolling here with hollow praise, contradictory statements and skewed "reviews".
