Does the LE display maps/directions from your phone on the screen?

You've got to remember that the info display is just a minimum of what is fully displayed on the central screen gps map.

You would not be able to use CarPlay or Android Auto mapping without your phone. The car may have some other navigation system built in that works independently of the driver's phone, but I've never researched this, couldn't tell you.

 

Your 2017 advance has an onboard map, but it may be outdated - if it's never been updated. The 2023 maps is only included on the higher trim models; lower trims will simply project your cell phone maps on your screen, so it won't work w/o your cell phone.

 

Are you using the built in gps system on the Prius or are you using android auto/Carplay? Some of that depends on your model (is it the Prime Premium in your info?) According to the chart someone posted a while back, you have a year subscription to Drive Connect. I am unclear on whether that is necessary for ordinary GPS on my Limited Prius (not Prime). I guess I'll have to wait and see if the Drive Connect is also necessary or ordinary GPS (not human Assisted.) OR maybe someone here knows, but all the 2023 Primes are still under the 1 year trial. Anyone have an LE that can answer that question since they don't have drive connect.

I'm 95% sure your limited has onboard maps programmed in; so no cell phones required for you to use maps. It uses a GPS antenna. Depending on when your maps was programmed into your car, will determine if newer neighborhoods (< than a year old), will show up on your map.
I believe you will need a drive connect subscription to use your emergency assist button, when your free subscription ends.
