    I've got a quandry to ask of the forum;

    First, the included 2 year, maintenance that comes with the Prius covers 2 years, 25k miles.

    I've seen in this forum where the service departments only cover 2 visits at 10k per visit, which adds up to 20k in (2) free visits to service.

    Today, I received a card from my seller's dealer, where it states that the Toyota recommended service interval is not 10k, but 5k, with oil changes being at the 10k and 20k mark. If that's the recommended service, should then the dealer expand the service intervals to 4 or 5 free visits within 25k miles or 2 years, depending on whether it's mileage or time for this milestone?

    I'd like to hear what others have been told about this. I have a call in to my local dealer to ask them; I'm guessing in advance they'll stick to the 2 year, 2 visit @ 10k thing, but wanted some ammo if other dealers did the other option.

    Thanks, in advance!

    The service lamp trips every 5K miles. The first visit is tire rotation and checks. Second visit is oil change plus what they do on the first visit. It's spelled out in your owner's manual maintenance book.

    You get 2 oil changes in the deal and 4 six month inspections (check fluids, rotate tires, etc). You get whatever your maintenance schedule calls for in the basic service section (none of the special service sections).

    Yep, that sounds right, every 6-months or 5,000 miles they'll do a free tire rotation and at the 10,000 mile also do an oil change. So I just did my own break-in oil change at 1,000 miles and the in-between 5,000 mile oil change.
    I change our non-Toyota cars' oil every 3,000 miles.

    I don't know about the 2023, but my 2021 - on start-up states 'maintenance due' around 4.5k after last reset, and disappears once you start moving. Once you get over 5K after last reset, you need to acknowledge the warning to make it go away. That's how the 4th gen. work.

    That’s for the free oil changes as others have mentioned above. You can still bring it in for sure every 5000 miles or every six months If you don’t put the mileage on the vehicle, and they will rotate the tires and fill up fluids, and do a safety check. Worth it because I know a lot of shops charge 40 or 50 bucks to rotate tires. Plus it’s just a good thing to get it done for even tire wear.

    20-years ago, before I got into doing my own maintenance, my Toyota dealer had an oil change special....$99 for 3 oil/filter changes in a year. I did that for my old Tacoma for years.
    I just logged in to check, it's now up to $199 for the same deal but includes synthetic oil.
    Nothing is better for a cars' health than frequent oil changes, nothing!
