So except for the drive back from the dealer, all my driving's been in EV mode. The car says 15.1 kwh/100 km... and I've put about 1340 km on. What are other people getting?
see you live in toronto area , cannot say what are my Kw/h /100KM on my gen4 Prime but expect to see a degradation with winter tires and heating as the temperatures drops. As I see it , you can expect a 40% drop in EV efficiency in the horrendous winter driving conditions. after 20 000 KM the car indicates 1.7 L/100KM.....
Thank you, yes, I figure it will go down. We also have a Rav4P, and its lifetime average electrical use is actually BETTER than the Prius'. So maybe it's just the Prius has driven fewer km, so it needs more distance and time for a more accurate average.
Thanks- that's good to know. ACTUALLY... today on the way home from work (401, west end Toronto ) we commuters had to contend with ice pellets and a temp of about 3C. So for the 2nd time since I brought it home (there was a cold morning a few weeks ago) the engine fired up when I defrosted the windshields. Rather than just saying 100% EV, 14 km, when I shut the car off, it said 1.89l/100km. So, yeah, winter's here.
Given the longer range (which means there's more chance for the kWh/100km to vary), that's pretty good. And Toronto traffic isn't favourable for efficient driving. That's good. Of course. My average (over the 3 years) on my old Prime was around 13.4kWh/100km but much slower city driving. (16-19kWh/100km in the winter, 11-12kWh/100km in the summer)
On my 2020 Prius PHEV, I am floating on 8.5 kWh/100 km (or 85 W/km as I prefer), and I can get as low as 7 on certain trips, but now winter is coming and I've had her only since May.
Average 14.45 kWh / 100km (4.3 mi/kWh) for 2900km (1800 EV miles)in 70 “EV days” flat Florida USA with temperatures averaging 85F. 2023 Prius Prime XSE
Ok thanks! I guess I don't feel too badly about my Prius' energy consumption, then. despite the 19" wheels. ...because I swear, the 2021 Rav4P seems to use LESS electricity.
I got significantly better mileage on my 2019 Prius Prime – in summer, hovering at 10 kWh/100km. In the 2023 Prius Prime (19" wheels) I was getting closer to 13 kWh/100km in the summer, and it's climbing now with cooler weather (around Hamilton) to 15. Still have to find a winter tire solution. I really want all-weather 17", but nothing's available it seems.
