Gen 5 Prius is obviously not suitable for high-speed driving. It is all over the lane at 100+ mph.

Not even close unless you mean because I'm passing them in a Prius.

Super slow acceleration is an outdated notion. In fact, it'll actually cost you fuel economy most times. Nobody rides my bumper in the G5. And if I've got a decent amount of road, or there's twisties ahead, I'll often accelerate well into the power band.

The magic happens once I'm AT cruising speed. Maximizing EV by driving strategically.

And I try to avoid on-ramps unless I'm in a serious hurry. Highways hurt MPG's and flying highway rocks hurt the paint.

How do you figure? The driver's hands were barely moving on the steering wheel at max speed.

The car seemed to shimmy quite a bit.

Its not suitablefor high speed driving because it cant drive faster than 110mph

But it looks fine to me? Being not so high helps alot too. Probably Sport mode with heavier steering would be better. Im curious though until which speed LTA is working. Cruise control I would expect to got all the way - as every good radar system. One reason I decided against Tesla - safety systems turning off exactly when you need them the most (speeds > 90mph)

I was surprised how much the engine turns off on a fairly level highway with the Prime. It adds up. Just from short observations. It should get less mpg with 250 lbs in the back or whatever the pack weighs, but doesn’t seem to. Maybe applies to the rav4 also.

Remember, you are not allowed to write glowing reports, but others are. Yours tiresome, others not tiresome. Life is unfair.

Anyone else notice that super-speeder was driving in "B" mode? :) It shouldn't matter in pedal to the medal mode, but still.
Also, the shimmying looked to the camera shimmying more than the car. The road line relative to the windshield seemed pretty OK.

In my experience gently rolling hills seem the best for efficiency, but coasting on the down slope will never completely make up for the energy climbing up. With the gentle hills, you may be able to coast up a good portion of the next one. With steeper climbs, the engine could be pushed into a non-efficient power band to maintain speed that becomes more difficult to make up for.

Any car with aerodynamics designed for efficiency with wheel alignment of near zero degree toe in will be squirrelly at higher speeds. Seen it in a 2005 Prius at 90.
If their performance test involved more than just top speed, they could have had it in B for the greater engine braking. The wording in the Camry hybrid manual also makes it sound like it could impact acceleration.

At end of the video, the next one on, phevs rule, is pretty good at reviewing a Prime or even non Prime.

Then you're not getting a realistic mileage to go on about. The rating is combined not just putt'n around town. I have about 6500mi on my 23 now and have done several extended road trips. I have been averaging mid to high 40s each tank. There's no way you're getting 50,60,70mpgs with normal driving at freeway speeds.

I made it pretty clear I don't do a lot of freeway driving in my Prius. I mostly "putt" around town. But I do not piss other drivers off. And quite often I have a spirited acceleration.

    I do love this car!

The Michelin tires that some of the Gen 5s are coming with. They give a completely different experience for those of us who are sensitive to sound and vibration.

The mpg will vary greatly with speed. With my Gen 4 Prius Prime, I get about:

    120 mpg @ 25 mph
    80 mpg @ 50 mph
    70 mpg @ 55 mph
    60 mpg @ 65 mph
