So, we have learned that yard tools, while they pollute, actually are not a major contributor to climate changes?

So, this begins to get very complicated

    Electric cars/tools?

What about "getting electricity." Coal is one source. I don't know much about it, but I assume it is pretty dirty, maybe by the time you calculate that and a leaf blower....

Hydro, lots of issues and I don't think we have even discovered all of them yet. Wind farms...lots of issues, same with geothermal, wave energy, etc. etc. etc.

In other words, there is no free lunch.

Complicated issues, but I don't think you can say "I'm all electric." and feel that you are making the world better. Live in a home with no electric, no heat, etc., then maybe you can say you are truly green,

I'm on board with that. All-electric is... less bad.

I've posted it before, the real environmentalists don't have cars.

And at home? Even after I get my solar panels installed, all my night-time electricity will come from the grid. And where I live, that's around 50% natural gas, 30% nuclear, 10% coal and 10% all-others according to the EPA.

    You know:

Looked all through this post and never found an answer, nor guesstimate, on how much Danny may have earned through PriusChat. Of course, it may be impossible to do, but would have thought there would be an average sort of figure.

But then, again, PC is the king -- or queen -- of thread drift. Not that I am complaining, Would not have it any other way.:)

Their carbon emissions are about 0.4% of the US's total, but 5% of NOx. The stuff you don't want to directly breath in, they are pretty good at making while in your personal space.

An EV on all coal electric might emit more carbon than a Prius, but it will be much less than most other cars on the road. I'm putting the odds that is the same in regards to power tools. A coal can emit some nastier stuff than gasoline. A power plant likely isn't in your face though, and it is much easier putting emission controls onto a stationary power source than a mobile one. Very unlikely to see a three way catalytic converter on a leaf blower anytime soon.

The general trend for the grid is moving towards the less bad.
I actually thought this was the battery power tool thread.

They asked how much we made, maybe there is no Danny. Where is this Danny? So we are the posters coming here and generating ad clicks while Danny gets all the money. We the Posters have made nothing, Danny harvests it all. So the answer is zero. I think the op is asking for a piece of the pie. Hey Danny, how much have WE made, like where are our checks?

Numerous old timers here claimed to have actually met him, at long ago Toyota roll-outs and other Prius-related events. I was still a newbie then.
After website hosting expenses, those checks probably aren't big enough to pay the postage to be mailed to the us 'content generators'.

Gotta say I'm sympathetic to the idea that Danny started PriusChat quite some time ago and that it may not be his only, or primary, obligation, or passion, at this point.

I've seen that happen to other projects by other people where they fall much deeper into neglect, disrepair, and uselessness. We have our dissatisfactions with this site, but it's up and running most days, usually succeeds with posting, and does seem to get kicked back into operation in less than a day or so on those occasions where someone has sat on the lid. I think I'll keep my grumbling at Danny dialed back to the low single digits.

I don't pretend to know the traffic or the coins that are generated by this site but I do seem to remember that there are over 100,000 members (some actually active.)
THAT should generate enough of a market to keep the site going.....
    ...or?
    Maybe not.

I've been here well over 10 years and there are several members closing in on 20.
This site was here before the first iPhone.
This site predates the first US (or most other nation's) minority President.
When this site went 'live' Tesla had only been incorporated for a few months and it would be several years before Musk bought it.

That's a looong time to be in the same gig.

    Life should have seasons.
We've all seen what happens when world-class performers don't know when it's time to hang up the cleats.

    For now?

As someone wiser than me pointed out.....

Treat EACH POST as though it may be the last one. ;)

    ...and PUL-EASE!!!!!
    Enough with the TEMU ads!!!!

From that viewpoint, the amount of things I'm forgetting is just fine. The problem is in which particular things are remembered or forgotten.

And they said a Prius couldn't be drifted.
