Did you know Toyota USA has a new upcoming Electric Vehicle Division USA headed by a former Indiana farm girl who has an advanced engineering degree - has been President of Manufacturing at Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Kentucky as well as Managing and heading a Developoment Engineering Group in Japan for Toyota on her resume? Oh -by the way- she started out as an entry level engineer at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Indiana and has been promoted through the ranks at Toyota - pretty impressive.

So, as much as the PiP, an actual compliance car.

As long as Toyota continues to charge more(before incentives) for less range and slower charge times, they will remain a small player in EVs.

I'll also point out that the press releases you're linking to are over a year old. Have they made any progress? When will they be online? What's their plan to catch up with everyone else?

This is just more of the same old Toyota.

Was hoping you would ask that...

Progress is going great. You can see them moving in the manufacturing machines into the facility at the Kentucky Plant.

Some individuals have already begun their comprehensive training for the EV model assembly line.

Remember this is a Public Company that is responsible to stockholder and their employees. They must be fiscally responsible and manage their company well. Don't forget Toyota is one of the most profitable companies in the world and has tremendous capital reserves.

This is a very well run company -

I understand your concerns as we live in a country that prints money like it is making matchsticks and then gives it away like cotton candy at a circus.

Wow, that's awesome. Some people have begun training and equipment is being moved. So much awesome.

Meanwhile, GM, VW, Ford, Tesla are all manufacturing better cars in greater numbers.

Also, aren't all car companies private? What does comparing them to the government accomplish? Can you point to a public sector car company that operates here in the us? Are there even any that compare to the scale of the companies we've been discussing?

Edit: Totally forgot, but the Honda Prologue is also being manufactured here in the US.

Toyota, and most other Auto Manufacturers are Public. I suspect a typo/autocomplete issue.

I am very happy to hear Toyota is starting to ‘talk the talk’. I look forward to the USA made SUV coming in late 2025.
I also hope Toyota uses some of that cash to pay down their long term debt.

Paint me ‘cautiously optimistic’ about what Toyota says. Their stated plans have a habit of slipping, or disappearing.

I went back and corrected and your assumption about auto correct is 100% on target

I am also on the same page as you on having Toyota join the EV train. It will improve Toyota and maybe provide more diverse offerings - a win- win.

They will also be able to benefit from the groundbreaking work Tesla and some of the other great manufactures have done and maybe eventually kick in some of their own new ideas.

Oh great another antagonist - just what our forum needs.

You've been give facts and data - you've provided none.

I get it, you attempt to discredit any facts and data while you provide none.

You will have to find someone else to play I'm too busy.

OK the bwhatever is an suv. The vehicle of choice in suburbia. I like it on first look at a real one. There is a fwd model for less, and the wheels fall off is getting stale. Not that much more or no more than a Prime or loaded Prime. I would get the basic one and throw caution to the wind before spending 42 on a Prime. Get me a Bwhatever electric vehicle to tick off certain neighbors. Who ask me how I like my electric car, the 2020 Prime, and always it ends after the stories about battery failure and road trips are hard to do, they announce they will stay with gas. As if they were remotely in the market for an ev.
Everyone knows why suddenly they don’t like electric cars and can’t stop telling everyone.

yes, the base model is reasonable, but you won't get one. they startat 55k and up from there, unless you want to order and wait a year. if they even take orders, idk.
