Was diagnosed with cylinder misfire which turned out to be a cracked cylinder block.

Root cause was a leaking coolant reservoir tank causing loss of coolant over time.

Has new tires, new brake pads, new 12 v battery.

I am thinking of an engine rebuild by hybrid pit or check with the oklahoma mobile installer [skimmilkhybrid].

Wife says we already spent too much into this car and wants to save for another car.

But if we just want to get rid of it, what options do we have ?

    - Donation center ?

    - Sell it for parts ?

    - Salvage yard ?

I am in socal [lake elsinore].

Well you're in California so without having some access to private mechanics folks in East LA whatever. It's going to be double or triple the cost of what it'll cost me here in North Carolina me personally where I am I would just buy a JDM spec engine drop it in the car keep getting it You could go the generation 4 route or the generation 3 pretty much they drop right in squeeze right up keep getting it here I just did that to a 2013 persona the cost of the engine fluids and installation was around 1787 the installation was pretty much done in a day right down the street from my house.

agreed it will not be an inexpensive repair. i really love the car and it's been good to us but it's time to move on.

If you opt to keep it, there's a more likely smoking gun. Also worth considering: new short blocks are around 2 grand USD.

Yes is a generation 3 that is the smartest thing I think you would do move on. Buy a generation too and then if I don't know the wife has to have you know the business get her whatever that is you'll be in that generation too through three of her things that she has to have generally speaking It's the way it's worked out here pretty pretty much. Most of my friends and acquaintance is here have been through three or four vehicles I still have the same generation too service vehicle that I've had for a while and four or five other sitting here all with tags on them generation twos. The two Gen 3s I have are on their last legs and being phased out never to be here ever again.
