I bought the sensors with the package from TireRack but they don't want to sync up. The dealer said they would try to get them synced with their software but I didn't get a definitive answer of it's success. They were $168 thru TireRack. Had I known that they might not sync up I probably would have passed. Not looking forward to having to either eat the cost or pay for the Toyota specific ones and paying to have them replace the others. Ugh I've driven decades without sensors on cars so no biggie to not have them with the exception of the tire pressure light being on. Lol
Yeah... I've generally just run with the warning light. Although I've got rims sitting at home, good tire price lined up... I'm still waiting to see if a local dealer offers a good price for a package with sensors....
I would then trial fit, front and rear locations, before scoring tires. 16" rim inside diameters maybe vary.
Hows your search going? Is the trim even relevant? Its the same car model after all. Cars have individual certificates of conformity, citing their type approval, and specs like wheel size. Toyota have clearly done at least two different type approvals for the Europe Prius, with the two different efficiency ratings for the different wheel sizes. So this particular car was only approved for 195/50R19. I'm ordering a 17" wheel+tyre+TPMS set from the dealer - the wheels are the dark five-spokes you can see here: (Of that lot, the textile floor mats, boot liner, scuff plates, and 7.5m 3x32A (22kW) Mode 3 cable are standard in Finland. Dealer chucked in the rubber floor mats. I ended up buying a 7.5m 1x20A (4.6kW) cable cos the 22kW was so heavy, unwieldy and unnecessary.) And the tyres are Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10, 215/55R17. (Narrowest available from anyone as studded for 17"). It will need a modification inspection due to the rim size changing by more than 1" from the approval, and they're dealing with that.
This seems to be the standard rim as sold in germany as well. Is it the same even for a wider tire? How come you use the 215 tire and not the "official" 195? Nice of them to take care of that - I feel like that would not fly here
There are no studded 195/60R17 tyres. 215/55R17 is as close as currently available. (Actually, there might have been a Continental at 205/60R17 somewhere, but dealer couldn't find it here.) 6.5"-wide rims are fine for 215/55, according to official compatibility tables. One of the reasons for this route is that narrow 17x6.5 rims are also very uncommon - there are few choices. Toyota's seem better than anything else I can find at that width. I wouldn't want to take a wider rim, as that would be left a bit exposed if I change back to 195-wide tyres in future if they become available.
Was checking winter tires, and TireRack said 2023 Prius can use 205/65/16 or 215/60/16? did anyone try to fit these 16" on Prius Prime?
Oh okay, thats a very tough requirement I fortunately dont have. According to what I "learned" from all the Prius review experts you would not survive anyway without AWD
Never had AWD, so I don't know what I'm missing. Mind you, at the other end I've never tried friction winter tyres! Apparently they've improved a lot in the last decade, so studded isn't necessarily the only choice these days. I do see quite a few cars without studs. Still, looking at testing, the difference on ice is still significant. Don't really want to be sliding that much...
I've never had studded tires, just regular winter tires and all seasons which are a really just summer tires. Haven't needed studded tires in the Canadian winters.

When I lived in BC in the late 90s tire chains or 4wd were recommended for certain roads up north around Whistler/Blackcomb and in the interior. I had 4x4 back then.
