    In theory. If it's at least a 75kWh battery, that's a peak of 2C which is fine given the Ultimum packs should have better thermal management (I assume they'll take the lessons learned). 190kW out of the 102kWh pack in the ZDX is only 1.86C. I suspect the charge curve will be flatter. (Acura claims 81 miles estimated in 10 minutes. HI5/EV6 claim 70 miles in 10 minutes despite higher peak power).

    I guess if we knew the capacity of each module, we could theorise what kWh pack could make it into the Bolt. I suspect around 60-70kWh. I doubt it'll be larger unless the Bolt comes back as a significantly bigger vehicle. Let the Hummers and Escalades and Blazers rake in the ROI and use some of that to subsidize the Bolt's cost to help bring the cost down.

    The average right now is around 35 minutes. Most cars are in the 30-40 min range 10-80%. Teslas are 25 min I think? E-GMP cars are 18-25 mins. J1-Platform (Taycan, e-Tron GT) take 22.5 minutes 5-80%.

    On the other end, '23 Niro/'24 Kona take about 45-50 minutes. bZ4X ~60 minutes for AWD and a claimed 30 minutes for FWD. ID.4 used to be 38 minutes but I believe it has dropped to the low 30s. (38 minutes was with the original 125kW power but it has since increased to 135kW... 33 minutes maybe?)

    It might be a failing of organization by GM. The company has been sort of a cluster F--- since greedy what's her name took over. $2 million a month salary, ridiculous.

    I see some b4zx’s around the area driving and parking. The base model isn’t as much money. I would think about it but 1. I just bought a gen 4 Prime and like it. 2. It’s still a lot of money like at 37. Before tax etc, and after it will be 41. I do trust Toyota though. They had to do the Subaru thing with the black flares or whatever they are like on the Outback. Not a fan of that. But if they have them sitting, they should be more ready to sell them. Maybe they will be updating them. So the wheels don’t fall off? Pretty sure that been fixed.

    I am pretty happy I don’t have to worry about charging speed on the Prime, in fact a 120 outlet is ok. Then when I do travel by car which is seldom now, I can burn regular gas and it gets better mileage than I had expected. Cheaper than the electricity on the road in my area. It’s surprising how much tooling around town 30-35 miles of range is. Again, better than expected for my situation before owning one. I thought coming from the Volt it was going to be not that useful in EV. That was wrong, it surprisingly useful on EV only.

    Isn’t rapid charging supposed to be harder on the battery? It’s just more to worry about.

    i post, then click on my avatar, then recent posts, then the last post, and voila, it's posted.

    i've been using L2 for 11 years with no issues.

    unfortunately, the base bz4x is not available. best you can get around here starts at 46k.

    I think a plug-in hybrid makes tons of sense, at least for me. The problem is finding a good one for a price I can afford.

    I drive short distances to work and back. That isn't good for an ICE.

    I need to drive hundreds of miles on the highway from time to time where charging stations are sparse, which makes and EV more of a hassle and potentially impossible for some trips.

    I rent and there are zero rentals around here with any sort of EV charging, except 120V outlets. There are plans for our first DC quick charge station here in town, but it's going to be installed at a liquor store. As someone who doesn't even drink alcohol, I'm not sure I want to have to go there regularly for when I need to charge up.

    Add to all that, that so far I've only been able to afford and keep running just one car. So having two cars, an EV for around town and an ICE car for the highway, doesn't seem like it would work out for me.

    Potentially yes. But from what I understand it has more to do with the heat caused from rapid charging than rapid charging by itself. If the car has good thermal control over the battery it might not make much of a difference.

    Tesla was the first company with hundreds of thousands of miles on their vehicles that also had high-speed charging. After roughly 200,000 miles the fleet of vehicles are averaging 12% degradation.
    Keeping a car for $200,000 is a rarity.

    Yes, that's what I understand. (you mean 200,000 miles, right, not $200,000?)

    Comparing it to cellphones, cell phones that are quick charged also don't necessarily degrade any faster than slow charged cellphones. It has more to do with the thermals (which is easier to do passively if the battery is thin, like in a cellphone.

    My last two cars I kept for over 200,000 miles. 30% degradation in that period would be my limit to what I would consider acceptable. So 12% is awesome!

    I had some 12% degradation on my Nissan Leaf at only around 50,000 miles IIRC.

    fortunately, gm changed their minds. i can't wait to see what the next one is like.

    there are a lot of happy owners over at the bolt forums. what bothers me is not the typical problems that even toyota has, it's the serious problems with brand new bolts that cannot be driven until repaired, and of course, parts are slow everywhere.
    hopefully i'll get one of the good ones!

    After 6 months quite happy with my Bolt as our second car to our Model 3.
    No problems...just too many junk emails from GM, SiriusXM, etc.
    Looks like the front underside scraped on a parking lot bumper and a small plastic rivet popped out.
    Oh the horrors!

    having just purchased a 24 hycam, it looks like toyota has gone the same junk email marketing route as gm. which makes sense, since the rest of their marketing seems to be following the gm game plan
