2017 Prius v tires

    My Pruis V needs new tires. I'm in SW PA hills. The dealer "tires for life" are horrible tires. It has always hydroplaned; then the traction kicks in & road noise is high. I can definitely feel the difference gripping in road surfaces & take curves much slower than most cars. By the time I pay for rotation 4 times a year, stems, Balance etc on the "free" tires, the cost is not worth the tires the dealer puts on.
    Can someone suggest a good tire that is affordable for 4 tires?

    Buy Michelins from Costco or Sam’s. Usually get a discount on your set plus free rotations, installation and balances. While not cheap up front they will last twice as long. My latest set is Michelin Cross Climate2, good in any driving situation.

    It might help us help you if you can tell us the current tire model on your v, and maybe whether you have snow, lots of rain….

    Pittsburgh with same wheels as my v
    P205/60R16. Because the v is relatively light my Michelins usually last 80k-100k making them a real value while being a very stable tire that holds its balance well.

    On our 2012 v Five, we are very satisfied with the all-season traction, LRR, tread wear and ride quality of the Continental Extreme Contact 225/50R17

    My current tires are Bridgestone eco pia ep422 plus (?) P205/60R16 91H m +S
    I live in Pittsburgh, so the roads are kept well but I have a lot of start/stop on steep hills. Wet roads are tire spinners for many commuters on the hills at stop signs & red lights. There are not flat areas in my commuting area.
    I've only lived here 2 winters & they have been unusually light snow years.

    I bought Goodyear Assurance MAXLIFE. I am in South Florida so I can’t give any info on how they perform in snow. As for wet and dry traction, they’re great. Extremely quiet riding and the car handles fine.

    Defenders ride really nice, but you will lose big MPG with them.
