I’ve only had the new Prime for a week and haven’t had time to drive it much but the EV range only shows 30 miles on a full charge. It jumps to 34 when I turn the AC off.

Is this reading inaccurate until I drive it more and fully deplete the battery?

I’ve watched different videos of people getting 40+ on EV mode alone but none mention what the display says after a full charge.

    Thank you.

Why don't you drive it until EV mode switches to HV mode and record the distance?

The GOM is an estimate and it's based on your previous driving. So if you were to suddenly change driving scenarios (e.g. go on a road trip when you typical only drive in 25-35mph streets), then the GOM would be inaccurate.

You could always reset the lifetime fuel consumption. If you haven't reset it since picking up, it might read artificially low since the car would've been "idling" while loading onto the boat from Japan and also once it arrives here, it's only been doing short distances from the ship to the yard and the yard to the transport truck then off the truck onto the dealer's lot etc.

ev range is based on previous factors such as speed, acceleration, topography, climate and etc.
    YMMV

Took my car about 2-3 weeks before it showed an accurate EV range, now when I start the car after a charge it shows 65-66km

My XSE shows 42 miles EV range after fulling charging. Yesterday I drove 5 miles and the EV range showed 39 miles at the end of the trip. I am wondering if the 42 miles is low or if the range calculation based on the 5 miles driven is not that precise? I have driven for 3 months, over 1,000 miles in EV only mode, so would think the computer should be now showing accurate information. Just wondering how accurate the display of remaining range really is. I am fairly sure I get more than 42 miles in EV, a bit over 45 seems typical.

You have repeatedly suggested this. I have been unable to find this option in the 2023 Prius Prime manual. What is the procedure?

Out of interest, What does the Toyota App -> Charge Info:EV range show at full charge?

Mine is showing 46 mi. Since I have the car set to show % rather than range, I don't know what range the car would be displaying. My average daily total efficiency is 4.3 mi/kWh and I use 10.6kWh as the EV Mode capacity, so 4.3 * 10.6 = 45.6 miles which appears to match the App's estimate.

I don't use the app but today I drove another 38 miles, or just under, and had 8 left on the EV range. So that makes sense, right around the 45 miles give or take that I get on EV. And today's 38 included probably half of that on highway at higher speeds that would not be efficient for the EV mode (over 70).

One way is to go to the MFD, press Car then Trip Information then the History tab and reset that.

On the MID, go into the Settings —> Driving Information Display —> Fuel Economy and change it to Last Reset. Then go back to the fuel economy display and press and hold OK to reset it.

So this morning after a full charge the displayed EV range is 44 (up 2 from the last charge). It will be interesting to see where this levels off, but, it does seem to be adjusting based on actual driving data of my car (XSE).

It may be strongly influenced by the most recent efficiency. After nearly a week of 4.0 to 4.3 mi/kWh days where the estimate was 46 miles for me, yesterday I drove 31 miles ending with 4.7 mi/kWh and the estimate today is up one to 47 miles.

(BTW, I reset the total efficiency after every charge.)

I have posted a few times before regarding my EV miles after a full charge. My first full charge in May when I got my Prius Prime was 34 EV miles which was identical to yours.

It was adding a couple of EV miles each week for the 1st few weeks and then tapered off to about an EV mile every 2-3 weeks.

After 4 months, I still have 254 HV miles and still on my first tank of gas. I am now getting a full charge of 49 EV miles and hopefully I will hit 50 EV miles or more soon!

Regarding your AC, try to use ECO air setting and EV miles will drop only 2 and sometimes 3 EV miles.

I finally hit 50 EV miles on a full charge after almost 5 months.

Drive 5 mph slower everywhere you go and you'll see +50 miles, guaranteed!

I’m not convinced speed is the primary factor. Acceleration then Pulse and glide at any speed limit seem more important than the top speed.
