Other countries, like Japan, using the tenth position for a year are denoting year of manufacture. VIN Decoder – Understanding Its Basics
Japan doesn't actually use the same type of VINs we use in America and Europe at all. They use a shorter local chassis code. But when they make cars for overseas, they may or may not put the year in the VIN depending on where they're going. North Americans require a year indicator in a VIN, other places don't.
Perhaps in the 2024 model year, LE and SE got the light bar. The lack of it in the 2023 model year is a huge disappointment.
Ha ha, it will never happen in Prius Prime—any Prius Prime. In fact, they even reduced the fuel-tank capacity in Gen 5.
they reduced the fuel capicity in our new hycam too, but they managed to squeeze a donut under the trunk floor
true, and the chassis has a smaller footprint. still, i wasimpressed with how they repackaged the battery, and enlarged the trunk space while keeping a spare. and withthe improved mpg's, range is almost the same
Does anyone recall the Canadian price on the 2023 Prius XLE AWD without any add ons? I see that the Canada website is already listing the 2024. I’m trying to get a sense of what to expect regarding the price increase for the 2024 Prius in the US. Thanks!
Better not!!! I’ll have to keep my blinders on once I get my new car. Don’t want to know about the improvements after that.
I’m bummed to see they changed the gradient black Softex to black unless that just weren’t being specific. I really liked the softer less intense black. Ugh! It does look like the JBL stereo will now be an option for the XLE. Maybe not bundled with something I don’t want. Hopefully they will change the website before next allocation.
It is not the name but the color code that matters. Prius: EA20 or 20 for black in faux leather (sometimes called gradient black) 10 for graphite in fabric for Prius (sometimes called gradient black) Prius Prime: 22 for black in faux leather 23 for black in fabric
I'm not seeing anything about the JBL being an option in the XLE in that press release. And I concur that the interior colors will be the same as 2023. Officially, the 2023 interior colors are Gradient Black and Light Gray. For the press release, they just simplified it to black and gray. Don't read anything into it beyond that. I didn't go through the press release word for word, but I'm not seeing any differences at all between the 2023 and 2024 except the $200 price increase.
You Hopefully you are correct. I interpreted the wording regarding the JBL stereo to mean it will be an option in other levels otherwise why didn’t they just say it’s only available in the Limited? Maybe just an oversight.
I agree - poor wording. "Standard on the Limited grade only..." does imply that it's available optionally on other trims. I've been considering a Limited so I can get the JBL system. The other stuff I could do without. Would be great if I could add it to the XLE.
