Super happy with my new Prius! I got a great deal (imho) and waited 18 days between putting down the deposit and picking her up. Here’s how I paid $31,550 for a Prius LE in central NC: Registered for eleventy-billion Toyota dealerships. Communicated with anyone who texted me. Told them I want an LE because of the gas mileage and I don’t want a moon roof or whatever that’s called, or the plastic “door guards” or anything else. Didn’t care about the color (a lie; i really wanted the blue, but not enough to pay gobs extra for it). Got one dealer to about $33K, then started talking trade in for Annette, my 2012 Prius. Talked to two dealers & got one I was going to go with — I was just about to hit “send” on the email to accept one offer when Christian from Pecheles Toyota in Washington, NC called (we’d been texting on & off during this time).. I said I was interested but I had a good offer from another dealer. “What would it take?” he asked me. I said I’d want the price down another $1K. He asked if I would go with them if I got that deal, and I said yes. He hopped off the phone, did whatever they do when they make you wait, and then lowered the total package by $1,200. So: $6,250 for a 2012 Prius in decent shape $25,307 for the 2023 Prius (Martha) Total car cost: $31,550. And may I say … Martha is STUNNING. I had a black Celica (Tucker) back in the day, and Martha looks & feels so much like Tucker — but with great gas mileage. So now I’m here reading all the stuff I need to know about my 2023 Prius.
First thing to do is take off those ugly black hubcaps and behold the beauteous alloy rims underneath!!! Next is to ditch the total wimp horn and replace with dual Lexus trumpets. 10 minutes plug and play off of eBay and only $80+/-. That's a good starting point. Tinted windows might be next and them some other stuff, but first things first.
I'm jealous- your Prius is exactly what I have on order; I have pushed the button on the new wheels, though, and got a 4 set on Labor Day Sale out the door at $ 650.00, including tax and installation! Here's the wheels I chose (I think they look similar to the 19 inch alloys but they're 17 inchers):
They are from Discount Tire- if you can find them up to Labor Day, they are on sale for $ 139.00 each.
The picture there is not real; it's a picture from the Discount Tire Website to show how the wheels will look. I don't have my car yet; it should be at the Dealer around 3rd week of Sept. No door guards are included
OP, I live in the Triangle, too, and purchased a Limited at full MSRP plus Distributor-added options from Toyota Goldsboro. They were the only one of the many I solicited across central NC that would sell at MSRP. Picked it uo within three weeks of leaving $1000 deposit. The actual buying wasn't so great as they practically moved me out the door once they got their purchase funds, but I'm satisfied with the purchase overall. Too many dealerships in NC fall under the same ownership umbrella. Congrats on the purchase.
Called the dealer yesterday; they said my Prius is at the port, and should be at the dealer sometime this week! Cannot wait!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I bet you haven't seen them in person. I have and they are SO much better than the black hubcaps.
Wow - my experience at Washington was so different. Christian even called me this week to see if I had any questions. would recommend. Goldsboro was on my long list.
