The prius that was allocated to me said “exp Sept 5” on the Toyota inventory website until today, when it now says “Exp. Oct 3”. Anyone else have something like this happen? Are these dates usually accurate? How long can this go on? It has already been more than well over a month since I had a VIN..
Drought has lead to a waiting line for ships to use the Panama Canal. Add Toyota having to shut down production in Japan, even if for a couple of days, and schedules get messed up.
14 assembly plants shut down due to a computer glitch during system update. Explainer: What happened to shut down Toyota's production in Japan? | Reuters
They were shutdown for one day. “Toyota's production in Japan - about a third of its global output - averaged about 13,500 vehicles a day” Its doubtful that caused a months slip in your vin. Buy a made in USA rav4 hybrid
"Over 200 ships are stuck in a major traffic jam on either side of the Panama Canal, with some ships trapped for more than three weeks waiting to get through, according to data from Project44 reviewed by Insider." Hundreds of Ships Are in a Traffic Jam Outside the Panama Canal
Toyota’s Japanese production was halted due to insufficient disk space | Ars Technica looks like a disk ran out of space! of all things..
There is a thread specific to the Toyota shutdown, and one about the Panama canal. Just saying. Either could cause the delay to OP has. Or it could be something unrelated. Entirely possible the tracking site is simply unreliable, too.
Is there a better way to find this site than google? I'm not finding what you are referring to (toyota inventory website).
Toyota Inventory | New Toyota Inventory Search I use this site, (toyota.com) not a third party site ,to clarify. But given toyotas IT issues perhaps it is not reliable (facepalm)
I havent tried to do that, instead i just locate mine by using the filters for location, trim, color, there are so few of them a vin search isnt necessary..lol but the vins are displayed in the entry for each vehicle so you can verify
Try https://www.toyota.com/search-inventory/model/prius/?vin=[insert_vin_here] Replacing [insert_vin_here] with the actual VIN (DO NOT include the square brackets - that is just to show you where to put the VIN in the URL - then paste that whole string into your browser's URL field)
lol interestingly my vehicle has disappeared from the inventory site, along with all other vehicles sold at my dealer, and I cant find mine even by inserting the VIN into the url. perhaps this is a good sign? maybe vehicles temporarily disappear when they transition from “build phase” to shipping? or maybe they lost it ;P
Lol - exactly the phase that I'm in! (Glad to know that it might disappear at some point - that'd've definitely rattled me if one of my compulsive checks suddenly didn't show the car any more! My dealer was able to send me a screen shot of a page that showed a lot more status information (ship departure and arrival dates, rail departure and arrival dates, etc), but I guess that's an internal system only accessible to the dealer. (Probably just as well - I might crash the system with my compulsive status checks! )
Yeah, the toyota tracker system has been down recently, but the dealers are able to get more accurate info on their internal system. On the Toyota tracker system prior to it going down, mine was still showing “in production”, and I almost freaked out as I was promised it would be at port on the 28th. Long story short, I was told that the tracker system kind of sucks in essence, and is rarely updated. My prime XSE did get to the port on the 28th of August and is currently enroute to the dealer. I was told by the 10th give or take a few days. I haven’t got the call yet so I’m expecting the 10th or maybe a couple days after that. I still don’t know what port is actually got shipped to. So I have no idea if it Has to get trucked clear across the country from California or is it a short drive from the East Coast on a car hauler..?
