Equinox EV Preview

Can't comment on the size of the EV Equinox
but as far as the newest 2022 Equinox - a biking buddy has one and when our Santa Fe is parked next to it they are almost identical size from the outside.

I would consider the Equinox and Santa Fe as small mid-size suv's if that description makes any sense.

With the Bolt's popularity, price and reliability I don't know how you could go wrong purchasing one.

You could probably flip that car for more than you paid for it in a year. Especially with the deal you got.

If the press is true there is a waiting line to purchase Bolt vehicles and not everyone who wants to purchase one is able to.

i love the size of my prius. could i live with another 14" in length? for my purposes, maybe not.
need a grande bolt, 6" longer

 

i almost got shut out. fortunately, someone couldn't wait and bought a leaf, and i got their order

 

The Equinox is in the segment with the Rav4. The Santa Fe is a step up. I think the Chevy Blazer is its direct competitor. They slot in between the Rav and Highlander on the SUV size scale.

The Niro EV is actually pretty close to your PiP in size.
Going to be a bit before GM puts out an EV to fit every half step size, as they do with ICE SUVs.

 

i looked at the niro, but unfortunately, everything on the lots were loaded and big bucks with no fed tax credit.
maybe next time if they don't enlarge it. or maybe i'll get used to the bolt size. other than the hatch, it's fine for my needs.
i'm thinking of a carrier tray for dump runs

well, we just purchased two ne vehicles at msrp, there will be mucho lamenting and venting next year if prices drop.

This is a site for a Toyota car model, and I wanted to mention the Rav4 to Equinox size similarity since the Rav4's hybrid ilk get brought up here often. The Santa Fe is close to the Blazer, and the Blazer EV is topic adjacent to the Equinox EV. So I hit quote to your post instead of bisco's asking about the car's size.

You are wrong once again.
Our Santa Fe is a 2020 model which is what was being compared to our friends 2022 Equinox parked right beside it. The size difference from the outside is not detectable..

 

I have not had any regrets on the cargo space. Unlike newer Prii, the Bolt has quite a bit of space under the deck. And since the car is shorter, I'm appreciating the extra front-rear room in the garage. What I do miss from my Prime is the slightly more comfortable seats and the flood of efficiency data. The Bolt gives enough, the the Prime is amazing in that category.

A full on EV Prius Prime would be amazing!! And a major project.

I was actually thinking about waiting for the Equinox back last year when I got my Bolt. But the price was so good, it was ready, and I was ready. I will give the Equinox a good look when it comes out to see if it might work for us in the future.

 

my only thing is dump runs with gardening waste that mrs b is constantly creating. i have two bins that fit perfectly with the spare tire.
but i think a carrier will be a better solution anyway, it will keep the spiders out of the car.

i will also appreciate the extra 6" in the garage, as small as the prius is, the garage is smaller.
ican't wait to see the bolt hatch, it does look roomy underneath, and if i can fit a spare, that's a big plus over the pip.

 

I'm not sure about the EV vs the EUV for under the deck space, but I think they are the same size. In my EUV have my full sized, fully inflated spare tire down there ... along with tire changing tools, compressor, tire plug kit, gloves, rags, small board for the jack, small air compressor, a bag of tools, my OEM dual voltage EVSE, a heavy 10' extension cord, and a heavy 25' extension cord. And there's still plenty of room for my other portable EVSE with a different plug that I normally keep hanging in the garage. Even then there's plenty more space down there.

As for the yard waste bins, just fold down the back seats if they don't fit.

My 2013 Sonic hatchback is a little smaller than the Bolt EV, and it had a spare.
I see on the Chevy site, the EV actually has a little more cargo space than the EUV. The size increase is in the passenger cabin.

I did forget. I only have to take my yard waste to the curb. Edit to add: I don't think leaving the rear seatbacks up will matter to the spiders, though.

It's a small difference, mostly attributable to the slope of the rear glass.

I just remembered that my friend with a Bolt EV can fit a full sized spare, so I'm sure you can, too. I haven't asked him if he has it below the floor or not, but I would expect it to fit there.
