Well, seems the day is finally here! Got a call this week that my Prime has arrived, I visited the dealer today for a test drive and work out the financing and paperwork, and I will be taking delivery next Saturday, August 19!

Here is a pic of her, along with my trusty 2014 PiP to whom I will be bidding a sad farewell after 7 years of loyal service.

I am having the windows tinted, and my son has already named her bumblebee. (He is into Transformers… LOL)

Thanks again for the referral @Nntw !

Congrats on the new ride! Looks nice. Too bad yellow is not offered in the states.

Hey, you are calling yours the same! (y) Congrats as well on your recent adoption, and to PriusChat!

Have you been getting a lot is people staring and pointing? Even on our short ~10 min test drive, we noticed a couple people notice the car (surely the colour is a big factor…)… she is certainly a head turner. ;)

Someone needs to buy a couple of those yellow ones and then ship them to the States. Talk about a healthy markup and profit margin. A couple guys each getting one for low 30's with the EV rebate, then turning them down here for $45-50k easy.

Congrats on your new ride! I am extremely jealous of all the lucky few who have been able to get one yet. I'm still waiting on my order, no end in sight yet

Well, not quite that low, as the yellow is only available on the top trim. (Limited or XSE Premium).

Similarly, the blue is only available on the middle or top trim on the Prime. We can’t even get the LE in Canada strangely… so if you want a Prius with 17” wheels, the only option is Prime SE! (Or aftermarket, of course).

Also worth noting is the solar roof is not available in Canada, but that is understandable since our sunshine is less ideal compared to southern US. Solar is less of a concern for me, as I prefer the airiness of the glass roof over the few extra miles a day (and added cost) that comes with the solar roof.:) I would also be paranoid about always leaving space in the battery for solar charge, which could be annoying to think about… particularly since I work from home and may sometimes leave the car parked for a few days at a time. o_O

Just my opinion… cool feature though! (y)

A Canadian spec 2023 Prius will have liter/100 km display*, ambient temp display will be in Centigrade, and AWD is the only way they come. Maybe some other diff's, not sure.

I think the hybrid system warning is CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM EH..., kidding.

    * The only thing readily changeable to US is mph, AFAIK.

I've gotta believe Toyota has contingencies in place for "excess solar charge". Many people will have their cars outside permanently - often not driven for weeks/months.

It would be cool to drop the car off at the airport almost empty, only to come back a week later with a full charge.

I was not thinking in terms of risking damage to the battery, just “wasted opportunity” where the car will no longer take the available solar energy since the battery is full. I am sure it is engineered to not damage itself, it would just be annoying to lose the added benefit since the parking time was not planned accurately (to maximize solar charge, minimize wall charge, to result in maximum EV range at departure, etc…). Like I said, just another thing to consider when plugging in to charge, and for how long…

Are you sure those are the only metrics that can be changed? I know what you say is accurate on the Gen 3 (like I have… only the speedo and GPS units can be toggled), but I thought the newer ones allowed things like temperature and fuel economy to be switched… perhaps a 23 owner can confirm (or we can check the… *gasp*… owner’s manual later :ROFLMAO:).

Maybe. My thought process was very limited:

3rd gen is thus. Could Toyota have improved the situation? Nah.

But would be nice, and would be very good for cross border sales.

Again, the only changeable metric I’ve heard of was mph to kmh, or vice versa.

    2016 Prius wouldn’t even do that, a modest oversight…

Owners caught it, complained, and Toyota provided a conversion chart.

Here’s my question about the solar roof. It would replace the glass top roof which is an 1000 dollar coast. The solar roof itself is $625 or something in that ballpark. So if you had a solar roof option would that cost be replacing the 1000 fixed glass roof (in which case it should be cheaper) or is it in addition to?

I’m 99% sure the $625 is an incremental cost to the glass roof. It does not replace it. It is always more expensive, as it is more complex & circuitry, etc.

I know for legal reasons they will not convert the odometer, as that leaves it too susceptible to fraud with people who do not pay close enough attention. I thought they had added the ability to toggle the fuel economy metrics, but I could be wrong.

In my 2023, I can change the fuel economy, speed, and distance units to metric. For metric fuel economy, you can choose between km/l and l/100km. The changes are reflected in the speedometer, fuel economy, trip history, distance to empty, and odometers. However, it doesn't affect the native Drive Connect navigation system. Obviously, iPhone CarPlay and Android Auto units are controlled by the attached phone. Note that you can set the units on either the dash screen or the large info display and only need to do it on one or the other. 2023 Prius MPG setting.jpeg 2023 Prius Miles-MPG Dash.jpeg 2023 Prius KM L-100 km setting.jpeg 2023 Prius km L-100km dash.jpeg 2023 Prius km Trip Info large.jpeg

I did not find a way to flip the temperature reading between Celsius and Fahrenheit

Congrats @Sarge!! Beautiful colour! I’ve yet to see the yellow in real life.

Congratulations! Really nice color. Is it metallic yellow?
