    Hey ChapmanF -

Is this still the way to go as far as getting a tool that will be able to read all of the data the Prius can throw at me? (oh - and not be spending more than I'll realistically be able to rationalize!)

I have a generic OBDII bluetooth reader that seems to work with Carista (Tried it on a Subaru) but don't have anything "Techstream" yet.

I'm not sure how much "teching" I'm gonna be doing on this car as I'm likely losing my shop and having to pare down my tools and equipment to what I can carry around in an RV.

We're planning on being "homeless" in a few months and I'm not sure how much DIY will be in my future.

Lifestyle changes are a bitch....(even ones you plan and look forward to!)

Mine's still working ok with Techstream. I haven't tried many of the alternatives, since having this has been meeting my needs.

Hello ChapmanF and thank you for the excellent review of the OpenPort 2.0
Finally signed up here after lurking for quite some time, to ask you (it anyone else who might know)
On my Gen3 Prius, looks like I need to install and calibrate a brake stroke sensor. Do you know if the OpenPort 2.0 will do this? I plan on getting a valid 2 day sub for $70, rather than other channels.
Been trying to pull the trigger on the $500 Mongoose, even put it in my Amazon cart but having a hard time hitting the button to buy lol. If it would also work on my 2005 GM truck with the 2 day GM sub I’d do it. But for one car which rarely needs anything… $170 I can do with no problem, and I don’t want to deal with the lottery on the cheaper ones.

Thank you so much for anyone that can answer.
Also special thanks to user Mendel Leisk for all the posts from the manual, you helped me through my DIY head gasket adventure.

Hmm, looks like that's easy if you start with a new stroke sensor, you just mount it and then step on the pedal to break the pin.

If you're reusing an old one, looks like all you do is watch the live data reading in Techstream and finagle the sensor until you see 1 volt with the pedal not pressed.

I'm pretty sure that'll be easy; I've never had any issue reading live data lists with the Openport.

You can probably also do it with any other scan tool that can show live data from the brake ECU. We have a (Gen 2-specific, but probably ok starting point) thread reviewing some of those options:

That's great, thanks for getting back to me and the link. Just ordered the Tactrix plug.
