Looking forward to the day in just a couple months .... or maybe even weeks. Folks at that time will than talk about their first sighting and go, "great, thanks - ho-hum"
    ;)
That said - I remember when our 2018 model X traveled through residential areas of remote Utah going only maybe 15 MPH looking for an address when a group of ½ dozen kids on bicycles started freaking out & following us for several blocks. New cars. exciting times. Wondering what the next new big thing will be.

My last 3 cars were brand new, unemotional appliances (to me). I'm very thankful that what was going to turn out to be unemotional appliance #4, mutated into something fun as hell and beautiful to boot. Every day I've gotten to drive it, has felt like a privilege (if you're eyerolling right now that's perfectly normal lol). If you add in the fact that I drove my G4 for 3.5 years and got exactly what I paid for it returned as trade credit on the G5 (at MSRP), it starts to feel like I stole something.

Toyota has been very good to me and likely earned my business for life at this point.

Had a similar experience yesterday. Pulled into a local Starbucks, and a black XLE AWD pulled in through the other parking lot entrance. We got out of our cars at the same time and traded "nice car" and other small talk as we entered the store.

The white rectangles are pieces of plastic similar to what’s on the hood for protection during delivery. Maybe to help protect that area since cars are parked so close together on the boat.

Did you get the door sill protectors. I suppose the belle of the ball has been completely accessorized.

More like forced accessories! All I needed was paint on the car and gas in the tank! :p

    My options:

The door sill protectors look kinda like this:

But I also seem to have a clear protector where the red triangle is drawn. I don't know if everybody has this or if it comes with one of the two protector packages.

We've received one new vehicle w/ protective film on the front of the hood ... which makes sense. That's where most damage happens, from rocks thrown up.

Would you recommend them for the optics? I dont really care about some extra scratches but if it makes the interio nicer im in (if they are not too expensive)

Saw a Guardian Gray in the parking lot of Trader Joe's in Greensborough, NC. Had a great conversation with the woman who owned it. She ordered in Jan and got it in April...not to bad.

I saw one on the local roads near work a couple weeks back. Haven't seen another other than my own. Kinda susprised, there were plenty allocated around here, and certainly plenty of Priuses on the expressway.

    Second Gen 5 sighting!

Just came across the silver XLE AWD Prius I passed on this weekend. Michelin tires and all. : / Ha!

Rear end covered in dirt. Guess they are enjoying it already. I checked the vin #. :pThey got the etching.

Looks like the driver is short and the passenger is into major reclining.

    I’m a certified stalker!

Owners showed up and I asked how they like it. Bought it to replace wife’s 2009 that just died (300k miles) and she loves it AND she’s short. She slid right into the drivers seat with her huge straw hat. Two huge dogs in the back seat too.

This exposure therapy is working. She’s quite pretty with the sun setting on her, isn’t she? @Preebee

When backing up there are small bright white LED lights at the bottom of the rear bumper almost like fog lights. I didn’t realize this.

I have this as well. My car did not come with any protector packages. I honestly think it’s just part of the car.

Regarding attention—I saw a Gen 5 in beautiful Wind Chill Pearl on the highway in Suffolk county two days ago…stopped by a cop!

Haha possibly, but knowing the politics in that part of the island I doubt it.

hows your quest for the new prius going?

i have deposits down in 2 dealers. One is offering me wind chill with black interior but with a ~$3.5k markup; another offering silver with black but at msrp.

Wind chill with light grey inside was my first choice, so both are compromises…im torn whether to bite at one or wait. I’ve been waiting since january… ugh
