Hi all, this LE is going to be my first new car, really pumped but I have a question if anyone knows. My dealer only had a model with the carpet flooring but I would like the all-weather package. The carpet cannot be "cancelled" so would it make sense to get the all-weather liners also like on top of the carpet? Would that even work.

I've used the all weather mats from both Toyota (BAM Distributors sourced) and Weathertech on my Toyotas. You do have to remove the carpet one on the drivers side. I left the other ones under the "rubber" ones for sound deadening. My Grand daughter rides horses and they can be hosed off.

Hey thanks for the reply. I'm a bit confused as I thought it looked like the gen5 carpet upgrade is not removable? I must be wrong about that though, It's just a traditional mat I take it.

You don't want to use two mats, the top one won't secure properly and it could slip. I checked mine and like any car I've had, there's carpeting under the mat. So in this case you just remove the cloth mat and put the all weather mat in instead. It's pretty easy.

If it is a floor mat, then it has to be removable. If a carpet floor mat is included in your purchase price and the dealer is not willing to remove it and give you a discount for it, then I suggest purchasing an aftermarket all-weather mat instead of adding an OEM mat. You can keep the OEM carpet mat for a "dress-up" day or sell it. Aftermarket all-weather mats like by WeatherTech or Husky is usually better quality and more functional than OEM one, although the Gen5 being all-new, it may not be available in time for your purchase of the car.

Second on going aftermarket. You can get something that better protects the foot well walls and hold liquids than the factory ones I've seen in cars.

The floor is carpeted. Toyota likely throws carpet mats in at the factory. The all weather are added at the port or dealer. You can't put the rubber mat on top of the carpet mat. It is a safety issue in which the thickness of both, or the sliding of the rubber one, can jam up the pedals. This was a major cause of the sudden unintended accelerations Toyota had in the somewhat recent past.

I've never had after-market all-weather mats, but I did end up with the OEM ones (it's what it came with). The front ones do go up the walls. I like that they included ones to cover the backs of the back seats if you put them down, that was neat.

My 202 AWDe came with the "weatherproof" mats and side moldings when delivered via a different dealer. The Prius weather proof (rubber) mats look serviceable and the protection for the rear seat back (in the hatch) was a nice feature. I had Weathertech mats from my 2016 Prius and they do provide a bit better protection in the front footwells so they are in my 2020 Prius today as is the Weathertech Hatch floor protector. These mats do not appear to available for the 2023 Prius yet, but the Toyota weatherproof mats may be available.

you can do that just not on your driver's mat, it's a safety hazard (potentially) if stuck in the pedals

Mine came with both, the driver's side carpet mat is in the trunk but the rest of them are under the rubber all weather mats. I have some "Pant Saver" knockoffs that I might swap out the all weathers for in the front.

We tend to get more accessories as standard equipment in Canada (mudguards, wheel locks and all-weather mats where available are usually included. Carpet mats are optional in the US along with everything mentioned above)

My Limited came with the rubberized All-Weather Floor Liners (2 front and 2 rear) which I am not a fan of. I prefer the Carpet floor mats. I'm willing to swap with you.

I like those better than the stock all weather mats that come with the Prius Prime XSE Premium
Can't really tell but they look like they have the "keep your clothes away from the wet" function.

My Cdn spec Ltd came with both carpet mats and rubber ones. I am going to wait for Tuxmat to release their front mats for the car. I have Weathertech in another car and Tuxmat in my Wife's RDX and I find they are the best ones so far. I need a liner stye for Slushly Canadian winters.

When you say yours came with both do you mean two accessory add ons…carpet and all weather? I’m asking because I like having the cargo area lined in carpet. My 2009 has a removable carpet mat and a thick layer of carpet attached to the back of the rear seats. When the seats are down the entire cargo floor is covered in carpeting.

I’m guessing if you don’t order the all weather mats or the carpet cargo mat you end up with no mats on the floors or cargo space? I’m probably confused. : )

Every Prius that I have checked seems to have liners and mats as a port-installed option. Note that the cost of using carpet for mats and rubber for the hatch liner (or vice versa) would be the same as the combo.

By the way, I always carry a cotton ground sheet in my hatch. I can use it to keep the fitted hatch liner from being stained or, more commonly, folded up as a ground pad if I need to do car maintenance (e.g. check tire pressure and add air).

I think New England has mostly all weather mats port installed (arrive in a box). Supposedly they don’t see many allocations with carpet up north. Assuming they are telling me the truth.
