I've never seen a Gen 5 in the wild. Although anecdotal, it's surprising to me as the median age for buyers of gen 4 was 65 and I live in the only county in the US where the median age is over 65. We just completed an eight state south and Midwest vacation and we didn't see any gen 5s at all
i haven't either, and not many gen4 compared to 2 and 3. but a ton of teslas, which may be the new thing around here.
I had seen 2 or 3 parked since I got mine in April. 2 days ago, I pulled up behind a red one at a traffic light near my house.
Saw a parked prime in a nearby mall parking lot, a few weeks back, nothing since. Suspect it’s still a dealership or Toyota Canada’s car, not sure. It looked to be in use, with stuff on the dash, some high-vis vests on the seat backs.
Never at a dealership, but driving around just 4 days ago with the better ½. we finally saw one .... coming towards us from the opposite direction. She commented it looked 'sporty' & better. .
I've only seen one on the road, and I went out of my way to pull up next to the person at a light and wave in our 5th gen. The driver was an elderly gentleman who didn't look over at all even though I was inching forward and waving and smiling haha. It was a grey LE and looked really good, but it is surprising it was my only sighting in months of looking.
Haven't seen one in my city yet. Still driving around like the belle of the ball. It is weird how people will pull up next to you and start honking and waving/signaling. It's a bit unnerving at first, because normally when that happens on the road it isn't a good thing.
Saw a white XLE/LTD a week or so before I got mine(I was out getting detailing supplies for my trade-in when I saw it), but I haven't seen one since I took possession of mine. I think there are maybe one or two dozen within 150 miles of me going off of what has been popping up on dealership websites.
The attention it draws is definitely noticible. I've been in a 2010 prius for a decade and am used to the only reaction being eyerolls, but now everywhere I go my 5th gen is the most attractive and futuristic-looking car in the area. People either have no idea what it is, or even if they do it's their first time seeing one in person. It seems like gen5 is going to keep being pretty rare for a while, especially compared to something like the model 3 which is all over the place now. The gen5 prius looks like it eats model 3s for breakfast
Most of the Gen 5s I’ve seen are the local car share but I saw two Reservoir Blues in a row this past week.
Not many people are looking for new cars because the APR is so high right now dosent matter if you have excellebt credit you will have a 4 or 5% and up!!! Missing the time when we can get 2. Something apr's
I see about 1 Tesla a day (usually an older one) which is new for this area. See lots of Gen 1 and Gen 2 puttering around, some Gen 3. Didn’t see my first Gen IV until late 2018 I have not seen a Prime of any generation locally, did see some on my trips out of state. Have never seen a Gen 5 in our out of state.
Yes, a bit unnerving I would say too. I was checking out the white XLE AWD owned by a local pharmacist at Walgreens. Second time for me checking out all angles and interior. He has the light gray softex. Hopefully he wasn’t looking out the drive through window or he would probably have been concerned by my nosy Parker behavior. : } Quite a sparkly car! He has a light blue stuffed animal octopus on his dashboard. How about you?
I guess Teslas are popular where I live. Funky matte green, matte black. All shapes and colors. I know someone who said they were looking into getting the truck. I had no idea what she was talking about until I googled it. Yikes! Talk about futuristic. We have quite a few Gen 2s, 3s and 4s here too.
