There are many questions about this as you mention.

Toyota is renowned for its innovating engineering. Hybrids -waterborne paint /powder paint development with its venders.

It is not at all surprising to hear of this apparent innovation.

If this pans out there will big a huge line of individuals here on Prius Chat eating crow, covered in their own nonsensical post about Toyota.

I'll wait and see how many step up to the table to eat crow if this pans out.

A breakthrough like this for any company can turn the tables.

A scientific breakthrough in fission or hydrogen research could completely change the automotive landscape.

Toyota is well balanced and wise to keep their fingers in different technologies remaining nimble and ready to change with the times.

Toyota is current installing the last of the machinery to begin producing a 3 row EV in their Kentucky Plant with batteries made in their Massive US Battery Facility in North Carolina - They also are heavily invested in EV manufacturing in China with their partners- so they will have plenty of platforms available to test out these innovations when they come to pass.

Poor, poor Toyota completely being passed up by other automotive manufactures-
    Toyota's AI-Powered Breakthroughs in Automotive Design (techopedia.com)
    except maybe not.

Is that Toyota battery plant actually producing batteries? Last I heard it was a 2025 start of production.

That is right - 2025 - that is when they will need the batteries for their newest North American US produced 3 row SUV.

I think this might be the vehicle you were asking for to fit your needs- Comfortably carrying 4 adults with the 3rd row seat folded down to accept 4 golf bags. (It will be a Lexus Model).

this video is almost 1/2 a year old - progress is much more now

I'm still waiting for their hydrogen Highway - which they heavily paid lobbyists to promote - & promised it what .... some 10 years ago?
Then I was promised a fully equipped RAV4 Prime at MSRP.
    Fool me once .....
& how is a 2025 possible date equal to, "Just became a forced to be reckoned with" ??
Don't you have to have a product out on the market now - in order to be, "just became" anything?

It’s like there are swords, and Samurai swords. Perfection in the details makes the difference. Like when Gen 4 came out, how did they make a car, not a tiny car, go so far on a gallon?

    1) they aren't in stock. dealers are using cars allocated, or even already sold but haven't arrived as lost leaders trying to get suckers to come in so they can sell them something they don't want.

    2) if they do have one, it's well over msrp, but they don't tell you until you call.

    3) it's not demand, it's supply. sales are down year over year

    According to this source Toyota's hope for solid state batteries are still ½ decade away;

Toyota to roll out solid-state-battery EVs as soon as 2027 - Nikkei Asia .

Lest week forget, "as soon as" translates the same as "no sooner than 2027" .... so - if they're wrong about 2027 and it's actually 2030 or later that actual production starts?
    Yep ... It's still true.

When you announce you've "secretly" been developing a revolutionary battery but have yet to announce the financing and construction of the new battery factory, let alone show how you plan to ramp up production, let alone how that one factory can fulfill global demand for a company as big as Toyota. Lol...

Now that toyota is no longer #1 in sales they're starting to talk like a tech startup company of 20-somethings.

Relax and watch a show that's already a few yeas old by one of Jacks installation partners.
The Downside is that the US market didn't get it. I wonder why. Don't you?

Looks to me like Toyota decided there was not much downside in serving up the sizzle years before the steak.

Not their normal M.O. but I can see they've been under a lot of pressure.

And this battery might be in a car by 2028.

This is old news. There are a couple threads here from back when Toyota made the first announcement.
