Hello everyone, I have recently bought a prius 2013 gen 3 with 234000 kms on it. I am regularly changing the engine oil I am using 0W-20 engine oil have recently changed the transmission fluid used Toyota ATF WS, cleaned the egr and other components. The only thing that I haven't cleaned is the MAF sensor because I cannot find the MAF sensor cleaner spray in our country and the form advises that I shouldn't use anything else for cleaning it. The fuel that we have here is of low quality it's advertised as A92 but mostly they use A80. My normal tire pressure is 40 psi for front and back but when I am going to a place with really bad and bumpy roads then I being it down to 33 psi. On average driving not using power mode I get about 17 KM/L, we have a lot of stops and go due to the bad roads and traffic. If I drive faster like when I am in a hurry then I get about 13 KM/L. I have tested it's batteries and all the workshops says that they are completely ok and no problem with any cells of it. So is this ok or is there something wrong with my prius? Btw I live in Afghanistan and the car is Japan made.
I’m not completely sure, but I believe a spray described as “electronic parts cleaner” would be compatible. Basically a safe/effective solvent that leaves no residue, suitable for delicate electronics. Maybe research more though. those values converted to US mpg are 40 mpg and 31 respectively.
Yeah. come to think of it (with 5 liters per 100 km). I agree, a long-in-the-tooth car in Afghanistan conditions. @Abdul Hai: I'd guess you're using air condition most of the time; that'll increase fuel consumption.
I think your car is ok, just u live in to hot conditions, your battery is hot most of your driving time, check your battery fan - if it's clean. try to drive with air conditioner to make your battery cool.
If you regularly use low-quality fuel, I would advise to use fuel-system cleaner every 2-3 months or so. The prius only has 11-12 gallons and most cleaners can clean more than that so measure it and save leftover for next. Also try this reset and see if it helps with your MPG.
That's true my AC is always on the temp is at low and the fan is 5 or 6 most of the times. The outside temperature is around 35C during the day. I am cleaning the battery fan regularly it's completely fine and whenever I am driving the AC is on and temp is set to low. Can't find good quality fuel system cleaners in here the ones that are available ruins the fuel injectors after using it 2 or 3 times. Did the reset disconnected the 12v battery now I am getting about 19km/l under normal driving without reving the engine alot.
You keep posting this video and mentioning a 'reset'. What exactly do you think it resets, and why? Are you aware of any documentation from Toyota that confirms this? More importantly, are you aware of documentation from Toyota that refutes this?
check your engine air filter, also try to use 5w30, 0w20 is to low for your temoeratures, i use 5w30 liqui moly molygen, engine works very quite and very smooth also in very high temperatures (35 - 40 c). any way 5 l/100km I think it's ok. have u ever changed hybrid battery pack on this car?
