Got to test drive the Prius Xle

The dealer I got my Prius from already has a sale pending for one of the ones listed.

 

I remember the ones before the 2020 prime. I couldn't fit in them without hitting my head on the roof so I'd have to tilt the seat back. The 4th gen prime is really utilitarian and it's got plenty of power, handles well once you replace the factory tires with something grippier, and it's top notch on the reliability front.

 

Gen 2 and 3 were excellent as well, but 3 not as reliable

 

Wow that rear hatch does look small...no more ,"putting a bed in my Prius!"

width at different areas along the hatch floor, height wherever it changes, width at hatch gasket, depth to back seat up and front seats with the back seat down and front seats all the way forward.

This. I've got both in the driveway (well, a 22 Prime and a 23 XLE AWD) and I've never been so indecisive. The hatch is 4.5 inches narrower on the 23, and, even with the big honking battery in the 22 Prime, I swear the carrying capacity seems better. Most of all is the feeling I get when I get in both cars. The 22 feels MUCH roomier inside, although I know the 23 is actually wider. Headroom is much less in front, and practically non-existent in the rear (for adults). The whole thing has shifted from an almost Camry-sized daily utility driver to a compact sports sedan with great body lines and a lot more power. Also, agree on those who negged the interior. I think it feels cheaper, mostly. The styrofoam trunk piece is comic. The rear seats and cup holders feel less substantial and cheesy when I flip them down and up. Doors in the 23 close with a nice thunk, but the overall feeling is def. more Corolla than Camry. It's a big compromise on utility and those interior issues to get that style and extra oomph. I honestly don't know what I'd do if I got the call from the local dealer saying my Prime was in. It would be a very difficult decision. I mean, you can't get the old Prime anymore - it's used market only now...

 

Ah.....yes indeed , I understand you facing a very difficult decision.When I got my Prime 22 , I was impressed by the feeling getting into the car.
I call it a mini Camry with a hatch . The ride was much smoother than the corolla XSE with sexy wheels . So for me I will stick with my 2022
So it is a choice between external appearence, and power 2023; or internal roomier impression of the 2022 and a smaller price tag . N.B. upgrading for a 2023 represents a 7500$CAN increase over my 2022 model.
Finally your choice will be the good one but not an easy one

 

Seems like they would have been better just simply upgrading the drivetrain and leaving the rest of the car alone. Honestly.

 

that was what i was hoping for
