Will it pass a visual smoke check in California? And for what it's worth, the Atkinson cycle engine will still work the same.

    @PriusCamper

There is no affiliate link just my code azusa to get a discount, there is not even commission.

I bought this like I bought my Magnaflow catalytic converter.

Which by the way will go perfect with this muffler.

So there is no stock restrictions from an OEM catalytic converter.

Free flowing air from the Blitz warm air intake with JET MAF through the Magnaflow cat and out the Ganador muffler.

ohhh the dyno will be so lovely.. then from there any new mods.. get another dyno to have a running record of each mod and improvements if any made.

Sorry, dyno is not actually needed, we have an official calibrated butt-o- meter telling us about the results.

Yes, it certainly is. Some of us just understand it in a different way.

How does that Genie Fuel System work?

Do you have one installed? Does it live up to its description?

I still doubt that any aftermarket fabricator has the ability to evaluate the performance of any muffler better than Toyota or any of its long term suppliers. Examining the OEM muffler for the Gen 3 Prius, it is readily apparent that even the end caps are carefully design with 3D cavittes to direct the exhaust smoothy through the interior without vortices or cavitation. Improperly designed, the vibrations could produce sympathetic reinforcing vibrations that could be damaging.

I remember years ago, before the age of computers, the prescribed engineering method was to build a clear acrylic model of the muffler and inject smoke trails through it to see if there is cavitation. The clear acrylic model is drilled in many locations. These ports are connected to pitot tubes. As the air moves through the test article, the pressure of each tube is recorded and graphed to reflect the performance profile of the muffler model.

Just a cursory visual examination of the Ganador muffler shows nearly flat end caps with square corners that are likely to cause cavitation.

A sectionalized comparison of both mufflers would likely show very little difference in the baffling and flow plath of the two, with the OEM muffler having a smoother flow.

The only high flow more efficient smooth flow muffler is a simple straight through glass pack. They are, however, more noisy than most drivers will tolerate.

I'm just wondering if the Ganador is a straight through glasspack.

Well I guess we can not do a dyno since we have been told not to do so now by our fellow member.

Also Ganador has been in business for a long time like Toyota has.

We will make that dyno happen.

Dont really care what the haters say or going to say when they see the dyno results.

On these cars it's all placebo, so if it sounds good to the owner and they are happy with it, more power to them. I could go on about when I worked in the hot rod diesel performance business 20 years ago and what we found more "open" exhausts did but it would be saying everything a couple of guys already said. "Butt-o-Meter" is mostly just the personal justification for spending obscene amounts of dough on something you thought it wasn't and regret it deep down inside but keep telling your friends how cool it is.

I just dont get why grown adults get so up in their emotions and experience from the past that they throw shade on something no matter the costs of which they have no experience with on a Prius... I feel like right now, we have a chance to be pioneers on a new frontier of no more srt8 big block motors to these tiny forced induced hybrid motors... so much more technology improvements since the Gen 2 Prius and Toyota just let us know you can turbo an atkinson cycle hybrid synergy system. I cant wait to see how they made the motor switch between otto and atkinson while still acheiving great mpg numbers! Once I figure that out... we will boost the M20A-FXS and the 2ZR-FXE!

Not to say the negative Nancy's dont call out good it wont work because points, they help get to the bottom of past hurdles... just... cant we all just.. get along and encourage those who might have more money to spend that us to tell us if the butt dyno results are real or not?

This may be one of the 'funniest' things you've ever written. We've been asking for months that you provide ACTUAL DATA to back up all your butt-o-meter claims (remember this? >> The issue is you have no idea how in tune I am with my prius) and prove all the BS you spew as regurgitation of ridiculous manufacturer claims. PLEASE PLEASE do a dyno test. Do a bunch of them!!! Since you guys are those who might have more money to spend that us , why don't you start dyno testing with your car back in stock configuration, then add each one of your "upgrades" with a dyno test after each? Show us your incremental improvement! If you really want to prove us all wrong, do 3 dyno tests and 3 track runs for each one. Especially since a dyno won't be able to prove all the gains you got out of the skid plate, but certainly a 1/4 mile race would!

Not hate at all. "Just the facts,m'am."

    Totally objective.

I found this on a Japan web site. I'm wondering if this is the same muffler. Is shipping from Japan that expensive?

Ganador - Prius (Series 20) External muffler - Nengun Performance

I would also weigh each muffler; the OEM and the Ganador. I suggest that the Ganador weighs more, Carrying around two extra pounds might have a minor effect on gas mileage,

I did more research on the OEM Prius Gen 3 muffler.

The outlet tailpipe is cut so that it is angled in the underbody slipstream. The angling produces a negative pressure a the air flows out of the outlet. This effect makes it act as a fume extractor that accelerates the efficient flow out the exhaust system.

I can see how the Ganador muffler increases fume extraction. To get a good comparison of the Genador. both the OEM and the Ganador must be dynoed. And, an air stream must be introduced over the outlet(s) for to get valid comparative values.

Consequently, don't expect to install a trailer hitch to accomodate a bike rack with the Ganador. It won't fit.

The amount of time I know I've consumed someone's time who doesn't know me in real life from a spec on the wall brings a smile to my face. Triggering someone to use a picture or video I've posted online and then bringing it into Photoshop to then post an edited version of their funny thoughts... on a watering hole means I've done well! Bravo! like what is it? what do you think I did so horribly wrong you want to internet shame me? help me understand... post too many drone videos? or links to my blog? maybe if I understand I can make an attempt to show through actions how your perception might just be significantly weighted on words from noncustomers... its a thing these days...

separately... this Gen 2 has only the drivers seat and the rest of the car built out!! like cool and creative plus the cargo on the roof, easy 400lbs, maybe 500lbs. This is with new KYBstruts all around and only the initial rear lift spring upgrade. Now imagine 2" lift kit lift all around with some nice meaty tires!

    IMG_20230530_201632848_HDR.jpg

the only thing with the airstream or wind tunnel testing, is this one guy I know... owns a company making trailers for Tesla's and it basically has a full Tesla car battery in it and some other cool stuff... anywho, since I don't fall in the group of those who might have more money to spend that us, I just end up talking to people who want to help with my Prius endeavors! So if someone I 3D scanned for and didn't charge, I needed experience, so since he does wind tunnel testing for something... I forget now just to say, I don't have access to a dyno in a wind tunnel just yet but that good ol airstream testing I'm getting more into. After seeing what that one guy said on this forum, about those little spikes on the rear top of the hatch to help greatly, even GR used them somewhere.. hmmm

That to say, my goal is 1k miles per tank of gas, with all the added-on gear I've set my sights on improving on not being a brick driving down the road and I hope with wind tunnel testing of my car I can confirm if having engine splash shield and or fender liners being absent not making a significant difference in mpg.

Ohh and... me knowing I put out good energy, I dont expect me nor Azusa to pay the normal rate for his dyno... heck, gratis is something that people have seemed to tell me as they want to see how far I can go with my Prius. Like the folks who laser scanned the block and told me the max bore size down to the mm per cylinder wall. Cutting one is next so it can be 3D scanned to then have thicker walls and larger cooling jackets. :)

Heh, the good old Gen 3 Trailer hitch. Well, it's safe to say I'm glad you mentioned this, and I will see if the new strength improvements we've added can offer more muffler clearance. The muffler hanging bracket on the tow hook bolt is just too awkward.

As I recall, the industry has always used the downturned end of the tailpipe to boost exhaust extraction as the car speeded up.

Currently a number of car designers have put dummy fancy dual exhaust tips on their vehicles to satisfy those who perceive them to be better performing than the basic turn down tip, when the exhaust is actually directed downward out the bottom side of the pipe.

Perception is not always reality. Reality is reality.

Make sure you dyno it with and without the muffler on both Mustang and Dynojet type dynos (Load & Inertia) and post the results. Offer stands maybe a couple months before the flaming really begins lol

I dont think it would be fair to compare my 13 year old carbon caked muffler to the new Ganador muffler.

We could compare it to a thread on here titled World's first 2010 Prius dyno.

    Dated 10/9/2010

That is a brand new low mileage Prius.

I'm really anxious to see your results objectively. I hope for the best for you. I just need to be shown the data rather than the salesman's hype.

I purchased this muffler so that would make me a consumer not the salesman.

Although I do have a promo code to help save money for others, I do not make any money from HybridPit unfortunately.

Unless your car's engine was really ejecting oil into the exhaust that cakes the entire system, there should be only a light coating on the muffler and tail pipe. If caked, the exhaust preheater and the resonator should be likewise coated.
