    They've also got really terrible backup-beepers in them. Probably the worst pedestrian alert I've ever heard.

    I was picking up a rental yesterday and the one of the staff was busy parking a Polestar 2 nearby.

    At first, I didn't associate the strangled chirp with a reversing car. I remember instinctually thinking "Wow, something is seriously broken around here to make such a horrible strangulated meeping sound"

    The worst of it was that it took a few more meeps to to associate it with the car backing up in front of me, so I can't even say it was good at doing its job.

    (as an aside I noticed many, many EVs for rent and the staff seemed to be going nuts trying to find non-EV cars for the queue of renters)
