you know, one might ask themselves why is there no aftermarket support for the Prius in terms of the engine or anything, more than visual appeal and I would say it's due to owners shunting any idea that defies their logic of what they've read online. I'll say this after driving a Prius V with the rat skat pack or whatever you call it Quantum Solinoid, it's worth its weight in gold. Now If you've never tested one, how does your logic that it doesn't work hold any water? heh, real-life experience, my steel skid plate and steel winch mount that replaced the crash bar saved my Prius from more damage than had an aluminum crash bar, and plastic underneath my car... they provided no strong structural support. and when you see where the winch mount takes and absorbed the impact from the bumper car incident on the freeway... like in Fast n Furious when Shaw had his front end reinforced! muah hahaha

 

I understand 'visual appeal' is in the eye of the beerholder.
Buy what ever style tilts your boat.

I don't understand what you are talking about with 'Quantum Solinoid'.
If we're talking about the electro valve that switches the two VVT modes, it doesn't need to be gold plated. It just works as commanded by the ECM and if it doesn't, it throws a code.
Now if you buy it to pop the hood and gaze upon its gold platedness, whatever...to each his own.

But if you are talking about an upgraded HV battery pack, I'm all in! I want one someday! After my stock one dies...

If you 'tested' a different VVT actuator and/or an upgraded battery pack then you have data showing the results. Very good!

ps. I think you drive a Prius Level 5, not to be confused with a Prius V. I have one also, love those headlights! Mine has the ATP also!!

 

I didnt think the PHEV had a Level. Mine is the Advanced Technology Package.

 

Well technically,,, since you removed the radar unit located in the grill logo thingie, you no longer have Adaptive Cruise Control.
I really like that feature and miss it when I drive the Bolt.

 

see, that's why I tell folks, you cant just believe your perception is, in fact, reality... but.. correction for you, I relocated it to the lower opening and still have the fancy cruise control. Now I hope to get one of those black checkered radar covers like the Tacoma and Tundra have... somehow and not spend the full ~$400 the dealer wants for them!

thing is, it doesn't cover the part that most Prius owners shave off, the front part which connects to the bumper.
I used new and super snug clips to secure it to the front bumper, I just can't decide whether to have the bumper or the shield to be the lowest point snug to the clips just yet. The thought now of making the engine bay waterproof (for the most part) is where my direction is going. Sealed up and away from the harsh environment.

I've noticed without plastic fender liners and the rest down there mpg went down. Soon as I started covering things back up mpg begin to go back to normal

 

I now feel so bad for perceiving that the grill emblem was missing and not knowing the 'fact' that you moved the radar unit to a new location.
I stand corrected and now I shall never believe my perceptions again.

Back to the ATP. I had an '11 Level 5 with ATP and I perceived that its LKA was much better than my current '10.
This one also doesn't have the Parallel Park switch, only the Back In switch,, or visaversa. Anyways there was an improvement after the '10's. At least that's how I perceive it, who know's what the reality is..... See? I'm getting better, at least that's how I perceive it.

 

I bet you bought one of those cheap OBD2 dongles... you didn't get a MX+ as you should is my guess.

 

See, you have me all wrong... my take is, just because we perceive something doesn't make it a reality, and when we voice our perceptions and they are incorrect... you have a whole community afraid to use a power inverter over 1,000W or lift a Prius more than 1.5".... because of people's readings online, not testing for themselves then stating their opinion-based perceptions all over the internet.

Truth be told... Id take a Canada PHEV with the Pano Roof as configured like my Adv Tech Package. The new Prime I have has the lane dohicky and it bugs so I turn it off.

See... that is a common misconception... what about the signal from the dongle to the "smart phone"? The simple fact that most if not all low-cost dongles can't access the enhanced diagnostics, means it's not pulling all of the "data" available from the vehicle to even push to the smart device.

I have at least 10 OBD2 dongles and in tests using tablets, and multiple phones, positioning the smart devices in different locations while reading the signal quality lets me know I'm happy to have paid more to get more. Interesting fact, the MX+ signal isn't much better on a PRime compared to a Gen 3 where its lower under the dash. I think the direction of the port plays a huge factor in signal quality between the Gen 3 and the Gen 4.

meh... people said no way my upgraded brake pads and rotors could make such an improvement on my PHEV regen that the EV range distance builds significantly faster. Stated all these and posted links here and there... the PHEV is a different vehicle and I plan to use the data in the data field "energy gained from braking" to show data in a Prime for months then new brakes logging data for months so we can see the data say "yes I am the father" of this concept. ha!

I'm back from my retreat! I feel renewed!
With a technical background, as I understand it, it's not a perception about what the car's DC to DC converter is rated for, it's a hard number.
And typically you don't want a constant load of more than 80% of that number.
Especially with the crappy air cooled converters that I perceive.

What are you doing out there? Camping with a Hot Air Popcorn popper? A big Microwave? A Starlink and office suite isn't that much...

Even if you are using a bigazz inverter it would just draw down the 12V battery while the corn is popping.
But it is also hitting that DC to DC at its max during the pop!
Love that hot air popcorn!

 

I had both! The 2 most expensive Prii! My first Prius was a Level 4 w/Solar Sunroof! (The solar powered fan for the cabin is great!)

Next one was a '11 Level 5 / ATP .
On this '11 with the ATP, it had an almost usable Lane Keep Assist.
I thought of it as Yaw Trim. On heavy crosswind days out here on the Lonesome Prairie, it would sit there and fight the wind for me while I kept one hand on my lap and would push the wheel with a finger every ~30s or so. It was decent on the highway. Not so with my '10.

Didn't know you had a Prime now. Can't wait to see the mods!

I use 2,000W inverters and know of those using 3,000W without issues. Airfryer or induction stove pulls close to 1,700W at high heat setting. Maybe the DC to DC to YC numbers online are not accurate...

Prime is for R&D of the EV system and assisting in making my Gen 3 AWD and faster than a Model 3 RWD after the next motor swap... Gen 2 tho.. thats on the up next and let's just say, it will look as good or close to as good as one of those AI generated pictures floating around the net. the 6" lifting adjustable coil overs is what will really make it shine!
