Hi. I am about to upgrade my head unit. I am planning on using this Atoto unit.

Has anyone done this? It looks like a Metra double din dash kit will get me started. I plan to add their dash cam, but keep the existing rear camera. I may need an adapter for that, because I read somewhere that the voltage is different. I like that I should be able to port over all of the steering wheel buttons without a problem. I am not sure how much of the car data I will get, but I can pair my OBD reader and get it that way.
I am not planning to add an amp, because I really don't overdo the existing set up when it comes to volume. I really want the connectivity. I wish I could buy and use their backup camera because of the cool features it includes, but I am afraid that running the wire from the hatch to the front of the car may be beyond my abilities.
The big question I have to answer is about wiring harnesses. I wish I could buy a series of plug and play adapters, but I am not sure that they exist.
I am open to any input.
    Thanks

I would build out an entire replacement head unit along with cables and Metra kit... through http://www.Crutchfield.com They have done all the leg work for most cars out there. You can then even order a premade harness ready to go if you so choose. Even if you don't buy from them they are a great resource for tips and tricks on the install.

I've used crutchfield many times, but for newer cars. They are very expensive for this one.

So my harnesses lined up pretty well except that I have one 8 pin harness coming from the car with i think 5 wires in it that I am stuck with. I think it might be the rear camera feed. I have an adapter I have to graft in there somewhere. I will post a picture or two in a couple of hours.

Here is a photo of the harness in question. It is actually 16 pin, not 8, but only 5 are used. Can anyone identify this? Thanks

For around $440, I got an Alpine stereo and a custom harness for my car from Crutchfield. All the stereo wheel connections work! The reverse camera works! Android play works! Took 45 minutes to remove stock unit and install new unit. After spending 3 years to save for this and reading over and over about people buying the 99 dollar special head unit and then spending the next year trying to get the camera to work, the steering wheel to work, the radio fades out, no sound and on and on it goes. $440, 45 minutes..........done!

I didn't buy a $99 head unit. But I'm guessing you don't know what that connecter controls?

Sorry, I don't. The custom harness that Crutchfield provides connects to all the old ends and the new ones on my new unit. Nothing was left over. You might try going to the thread that speaks specifically on installing head units. There are a lot of details for people that made their own harnesses and you might see your answer. As for the $99 reference, that wasn't directed exactly to you, it was a general refence.
