Tesla Model 3 now costs as little as $23K in California thanks to tax credits

 

It is indeed a shame that a fully loaded Gen 5 Prius Prime is costing almost $50,000—yet, it has substantially worse fuel economy than the much cheaper Gen 4 Prius Prime and only a slightly longer range and it is substantially smaller.

With BEV prices coming down, perhaps I should keep my blue Gen 4 Prius Prime Limited for three more years or so until better options and better prices are available.

 

The only reason for the upgrade would be TSS 3.0 over TSS 2.0. For me, Gen 4 Prius Prime is a better car than Gen 5 Prius Prime otherwise: better fuel economy, more spacious, more cargo space, more features (head-up display, Homelink, JBL, auto-on lights, etc.), nicer interior (no hidden-behind-the-steering-wheel console that you cannot see while you drive), better, much more visible, sportier, attention-grabbing blue-magnetism color, etc.

As for the color, you need to own and drive it to appreciate it. It really turns heads. It is too bad that Toyota did not carry it over to Gen 5. But then, that is Toyota—they are good at fixings things that are not broken. With the high gas prices, Gen 4 was selling faster than Gen 5.

I should say that a lot of this is fake news, except for the full $7,500 federal nonrefundable tax credit.

There is no separate $7,500 tax rebate in California. It is only a $2,000 CVRP rebate. (It is $1,000 for Prius Prime.)

There is no $2,410 Southern California rebate. It is estimated gas savings over a gas guzzler shown on Tesla website.

So, the number is off by $7,910. It is fake news big time!

On top of that, unless you go with white, you have to pay around $1,500 for the paint job. Enhanced autopilot costs $6,000. Full self-driving costs $15,000.

It is not to mention that they are dropping the prices to liquidate existing stock for the Model 3 resign.

Is that a used one? Note that you don't get many of the tax credits and rebates for used cars. When I configure the same car, the price higher by about $2,500.

 

On top of that, it seems to be a used one, so no tax credits and state rebates for @bisco.
