this is a great imagine of how it happens I bet. I think it goes back to what I said earlier. Toyota is a CAR company. Tesla is the technology first and THEN the car quality.

to be clear, I love my toyotas and I'm not a fan of Tesla car quality. I love their tech but their car quality still has a long way to go. Toyota has been building cars for.....ever?....and the technology is slowly getting built on.

I prefer Toyota though. That's why I have this.

I can appreciate a slow, careful approach when dealing with something as complex, costly, and frankly, dangerous as a motor vehicle. SpaceX can afford to have their product experience the occasional rapid disassembly. Tesla not so much.

Working in IT, I've gained an appreciation for technology's ability to fail in the worst possible way at the worst possible time, in ways you would never even expect could happen. While using the same camera would be great, I'd hate for some dashcam related failure to result in the safety systems suddenly borking at 65MPH on a crowded highway.

On the other side; So center is the rear view mirror. One side is part of the radar and the other side is the integrated dash cam if you get it.

thanks so much. Please me know if you can find an installation video / kit specific to the prius 2023 limited (as well as the part numbers). I think maybe it is something I can do myself but I don't see any manual or video for this install.

install, assuming its just the reverse of the de-install, is just a single plug. I removed mine to change over to an aftermarket camera system. If you're looking for the OEM camera, DM me.

The parts department can print the installation guide.
It is a pretty easy install, a trim removal tool is helpful.

If it were me I'd just have some one unplug the power of the factory dash cam in the rearview mirror compartment and put the top back on. That's if you don't want it to function anymore. Or maybe remove entirely and sell it?

Then have bestbuy install your third party dual dash cam for 79$ (make sure you have the hardwire kit for it) that's what I did. Using a N2Pro Vantrue dash cam. Used for years before. Like it, dependable etc
