First real photos of SE have emerged. Here is a comparison with XSE.

I like the subtle red seat trim on SE better than on the excessive red trim on XSE.

Main exterior difference is matte black trim on SE vs. glossy black trim on XSE. In addition, the front bumper trim on SE is light gray vs. silver on XSE. There are some differences on lights as well.

The parking sensors are nicely standard on SE.

The white one is SE, and the silver one is XSE.

It is black—at least, that is what it is called. In photos, it certainly appears lighter.

Huh, looks a lot more grey than black on my phone.
I hope it isn’t black, too hot

Do the LE and upper trims of the hybrid have a difference in the bumper trim? I think it could just be a difference in the lighting of those photos.

Yes. The LE has matte plastic trim, while the XLE and Limited have glossy plastic trim. Also I believe the XLE and Limited have a silver lower valence vs. black on the LE. (looks like the silver valence is standard on the Prime)

I was thinking the silver grey difference in the valence in the OP was just a trick of the light.

    Ohh, I skimmed over that.

Yeah I think they're the same. It's a lighting difference imo.

No, the front-bumper trim is as follows:

    LE: matte black
    SE: matte gray
XLE, Limited, XSE, and XSE Premium: glossy silver

That is to match with the matte and glossy black bumpers on the various models.

All look like the same silver for the SE and others on the Prime Prime build page. It does change in the imagine with the Prius.

For the OP photos, the SE was inside the showroom, and the XLE outside on a clear day. That is a major change in lighting, and like the paint colors, the plastic colors can change appearance with that difference.

I also remember that the Japanese brochure specced separate gray and silver front-bumper trims. Or am I remembering the LE?

We will know for sure when we see better pics. They are probably different to match the matte vs. glossy black bumpers.

Smartphones overexpose dark areas quite a bit to make the photos more appealing. They also make the hair look grayer. LOL

My Gen 4 Prius Prime's faux leather is charcoal. It should be the same for Gen 5. In the photos, it appears as a light-to-medium gray, but it is a lot darker in person.

Looking at the Japan specs, the silver vs. gray front-bumper trim is for the Prius PHEV vs. Prius HEV, not across Prius PHEV trim levels. In fact, over there, there is a single Prius PHEV trim level.

So, then, all Prius Prime trim levels have the silver front-bumper trim and Prius XLE and Prius Limited have the gray front-bumper trim, with the black front-bumper trim for Prius LE? Or Prius Prime SE gets the gray front-bumper trim as Prius XLE and Prius Limited?

The translations under the three front-bumper trim pictures read:

    PHEV ●Front lower grill
    (Glossy black, metallic silver coating)

    HEV ●Front lower grill
    (Glossy black/gray metallic paint)

Front lower grille (black/gray metallic paint)

One thing important to be be checked is the presence or absence of double-glazed front side glass on the LE/SE trims.
