    Two things could happen:

    1. You might be able to tell you hadn't gotten all the air out
    2. You might not be able to tell, and think you had gotten all the air out, until one day you need to brake in a mode that uses the passages you didn't get the air out of.

Thanks, so are you supposed to do the techstream bleed procedure every time you do anything that require a bleed?

There are two Techstream procedures, a shorter one and a longer one, and which one to use depends on the situation. The longer one is for when there's a possibility of air in the head-end components. The shorter one works for simpler cases, like you only opened a caliper at a wheel, and there's some air just in that line.

If you knew you were in the simpler case, and you knew there was only a little air in a line there, and none had traveled up to the head-end bits, you could also probably get away with using some improvised alternative. If you had Techstream on hand, of course you'd just use the shorter Techstream procedure, as you're s'posed to, and save the fuss of improvising something.

If you are improvising, and it doesn't all go right, and some air ends up entering the head-end components, you are then in a situation where the longer Techstream procedure is needed anyway. (Or some other scan tool that includes the bleeding functions. There are others.)

Here is my update. I got my break actuator from Toyota and got the cable and V16 and V17 Techstream software from Ebay. Unfortunately, I kept getting error messages after I install the software. At the end I had to install V18 from Youtube (
How To Install And Activate Toyota Techstream V18 on Windows 11 (also works on Windows 10) by Blue Moonshine.)
. Today I started working on my Prius very early and with my wife's help ran excessive (>15 cycles, all 4 wheels) bleeding procedure before I got to 'Stroke Simulator Bleeding Process'. Every time I got there, I got the message "Air Bleed Failed". I think that I there should not be barely air inside considering the number of bleeding processes I have run. There are three codes (C1202, C1203 and C1345). The power button stays red and car is currently undrivable. How can I proceed from here? I need to drive to work tomorrow but now I have to think if I have to take a day off tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated.

It seems that lots of pressure accumulated in the break system as the brake pedal seems very stiff even after multiple bleeding processes. I did not replace the brake pump but I am assuming that at least brake pump is functioning well as there is enough pressure in the system. I also tried to reset memory and manual solenoid linear offset by selecting ECB under ABS. I waited for 120sec and it said the process was completed but it did not do anything. No blinking ABS light at all.

Is the Creader Elite Toyota tool the cheapest tool to do an ABS air bleed? It is $116 on ebay and is supposed to do the brakes, and, I think, the linear offset learning and zero point calibration. That is all I need.
