All cars use to come with a jack. Instructions for the goo pump were to jack up the flat corner. Less work for the little compressor that way. Notes in the manual make it sound like the jack was something you'd have to buy from the dealer for this model.
not visability but the car is easy to get a ding - sides are smooth with no door guards, a car that would park next to you and open their door could cause easy damage. Other cars and the people who drive them could care less about opening the door and causing someone else dammage !
Arguably the best part of that video is that the reviewer's pre-production car had Michelin tires. I believe that makes 5 major tire manufacturers confirmed to be making tires in at least one of the needed sizes. (Granted, he doesn't think much of the Primacy A/S on the car, but now the possibility exists for CrossClimate2 or Pilot Sport A/S 4.)
Waiting for US driving test on the Prime, you can browse YouTube for the test drives of the EU Prime. do not know if has been posted already, this is in english.
Well, this is interesting, the HV mode in the Prime have a 3-step settings! Have anyone more infos? The tester wanted to try max acceleration and placed the setting to the highest level. Can be the setting of a kW limit to the EV mode? Probably. Here the moment he shows it:
Google translate says it's a regenerative braking setting. The manual says it's only connected to the B choice on the shift lever. Since most of us typically use D, it probably is fairly meaningless to those not in mountainous regions. I don't think the reviewer understood what the settings meant. The setting is described starting on page 260 of the US owner's manual.
Prime manual. https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/om-s/OM47E73U/pdf/OM47E73U.pdf If that doesn't work for some reason, go to the US Toyota site and click 'Owners' > 'Manuals & Warranties' > then select 2023 Prius Prime and chose 'Toyota 2023 Prius Prime Owner's Manual (OM47E73U)' edit: Was just a bit too late. lol
If I am not mistaken, there are settings affecting the amount of regen breaking (probably two steps) + Eco, Normal, Sport and Custom. This time Eco vs Sport should not just mean sensitivity of gas pedal, but affect power steering and maybe more aspects. That's probably why he set that settings to the max and than commented steering became much more heavy (sports like).
Saw the video, plus there is a link to the full write-up here. Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid (2023 prototype) | Reviews | Complete Car Do have a question though… In ev mode only, using the Prime’s battery and not ICE, does the CVT rubber band effect then not apply in any manner? I know in ICE mode the CVT is always keeping the revs in the sweet spot thus the engine racing feels at times while waiting for the wheels to sort of catch up (at least that is the sound effect to the driver…well me).
Nope, in EV there is pretty much instant response, especially in Sport/Power mode - at least that is my experience with current PHV and new PHEV should work identically.
MG2, the traction motor, connects to the drive line after the planetary gear set that makes up the CVT for the engine. It is about as direct a connection to the wheels as in a BEV.
Nice, so smooth drive for 30 miles or so and no ICE…just then have to wait 4hr wait for battery recharge
