I stumbled across the link below and thought some of you might find it interesting. Apparently Yuasa makes lines of AGM batteries "dry" for longer shelf life. These are shipped with a container of sulfuric acid to activate the battery. Details here: https://www.yuasabatteries.com/resources/guides/how-to-activate-an-agm-battery/ I don't think this applies to Prius AGM batteries though. Hard to imagine a Dealer's parts department going through this much work with a battery.
Interesting certainly I remember the yuasa Micro something batteries I have in all my Aprilia motorsports equip . I believe come this way red writing on the battery case. Battery box comes with all liquid needed . You don't use any electrolyte that you have in the shop in the box with a dispenser tube and all that You use only what supplied with the battery I didn't know all the ins and outs of that but I know that's how they came and that's how you did it and that's what you used You don't add anything else water or any of it. But I don't think the larger car batteries came this way I could be wrong I have no idea but in my funny smaller powersports equipment this is how it's done or was done with this brand I don't see a lot of Yuasa or Deka items of this nature anymore.
In my youth (the Paleolithic era), We had an 18 Volt DC alarm system. I wanted to add a battery backup so I took an old 12v car battery (flooded dell) and found a free 6v battery at a junkyard. The 6v was dry so I washed out the crud in each cell and added fresh sulfuric acid. Surprisingly the battery came to life with an existing charge and in series with the 12v, provided backup power for many years. JeffD
Sure it does. IF you buy one "mail order". Probably right about dealers and major battery retailers though.
