By "that assembly" do you mean the actuator? I'm totally in the dark on this. Over the past week 3 different guys worked on our car. First the AAA tow guy replaced the original 12 volt battery causing a system reset. That is when the ABS light came on. So I took it the next day to the Toyota dealer. Where they charged $189 for a diagnosis which was to replace actuator/pump for $3,700. The mechanic today today cost $160 for diagnosis plus $80 for work listed on receipt. I have no idea why my old mechanic came up with yet another code.

I'm still hearing the extra ticks and clicking sounds which I'd hoped to be solved by the new 12 volt battery. I'm going to see how it goes Sunday when I drive 70 miles. Ought to be a good test.

    Thanks for your input.

I overheard guy at desk saying they provide the parts, meaning that bringing a part for them to install would be a no go. Frustrating as these parts can be very expensive. Fingers crossed we have another 35,000 miles before major expense.

Right. As I mentioned in #14, in a Gen 2 you don't have to be very particular about the actuator or accumulator because that's all one assembly in Gen 2.

We seem to be going in circles. They didn't replace anything. I notice though that the ticking sounds after having driven the car and it is turned off continues, stops, continues, stops, continues and eventually stops completely.

A recording of these sounds might be helpful, as sometimes different people will describe a sound in very different ways.

Sure it's a ticking sound and not a "buzzing" sound? Anyhow, I just did the replacement of my actuator/accumulator ABS pump on mine and gotta say it's a lot of work yet doable. Really sucks to deal with shady shops especially since they see $ signs when a prius drives into the shop. I have found this site and youtube to be very very helpful for sure.

If you get the dreaded C1256 (as I saw you have), means the ABS accumulator pump will need to be replaced, I tried various troubleshooting methods before realizing (as many others with the code) that this code is your sign that it def needs replacing. I had C1256 and C1252 along with ABS, VSC, BRAKE lights on and an annoying beep that would not go away and once I replaced the ABS Accumulator, they all went away and used my scanner to clear ABS codes, 600 miles later all is well.

If you need some help DM me. I am in SoCal myself, near OC...where are you?
