We rarely if ever eat in the car, water is usual drink. Also prefer cloth texture/warmth. Bummer if steering wheel is softex; that has been prone to peel in past (pardon the alliteration lol).

Never apologize for an aptly articulated alliteration. ;)

My experience with any sort of beverage in the car is that if can spill, it will. Especially coffee. :p My past two cars have had leather seats and I have kind of come to prefer it for ease of keeping them clean. No experience with Softex, though, so I can’t speak on that front. Check back with me in a couple months after I pick up the XLE.

Then the textiles come in range of quality. High end cloth can be better than cheap leather. I recall the armrest cloth in the 2005 was thin and cheap appearing.

arm rest cloth for my 2008 Prius was very bad and did not stay glued well on the rest.

I happened to show up at my local dealership just as their first Prius arrived off the truck. There was a silver 2021 with only 3k miles sitting right next to it so I was able to visually compare my 2009 hatch space to both of them.

2023 is narrow but seemed deeper than my 2009. I can live with the smaller size storage although dislike how low it is compared to the 2021.

The standard size info screen looks much better in person. I like it!

My biggest concern is how low the cabin entry is. I’m only 5’3 and it seems like I will need to crouch down to get in. I couldn’t try it out because it was already sold. I’m turning 60 this year! Will I be okay with this over time???

How is it for those of you already driving 2023?

I couldn’t deal with the cloth in used 2009s which is why it took me forever to find a car. Leather was not easy to find and cloth looked so grungy.

Saw a red 2023 Prius on a truck waiting to be loaded off. Car was an xle. Car is in south coast Toyota in Costa Mesa. The Prius looks great in person.

Yes, do wonder how it will work as a ‘want to buy’ ride for us older people. I idea of getting lower to get in, as well as getting out of a 2023 would worry me a bit.

Dealer had a, figure, standard Camry that was rated 28/39/32 and that is not bad per se mileage if that is the non-hybrid engine. Did not check to see what year it was. Not prius range for mpg but not bad I felt.

    Spare?

First check; it "may" have one. Would be very interesting to know.

They probably messed up with the original one.

    Here are the accessories:

As @Mendel Leisk said, you may be able to get a spare if/when the dealer starts selling it. You will also need the OEM thumbscrew to hold the spare, which you can order from the dealer.

Did you look at what is under the trunk deck? Is there a spare? Are there the tire tools and jack?

I'd wager it'll take at least a grand, to have a Toyota temp-spare rim, appropriate tire, tool cradle, tools (if missing, and apparently they are with 5th gen) and all the bits and bobs that hold it securely.

@Daturah just on the off chance: check to see if it's got a spare?

Those thumbscrews wouldn't work with the Prius.

No new Toyota Ro–Ro docked to the Toyota Pier in Port of Long Beach since the last two quite a while back now. It is not encouraging. Hopefully there will be one soon.

Note that it takes up to six weeks for the vehicles to be processed at Toyota Logistics Services, Inc, at the port and then transported to the dealers after the Ro–Ro docks.
