Decided to try a Prius. My wife loves it. I like it. Getting to like it more. It's a level four trim package. 147K miles.
Clean the EGR system, including intake manifold, ASAP. See first 2 links in my signature. On a phone, turn landscape to see sig.
The oil, coolant and an upgraded head gasket plus EGR and throttle body just performed. Only thing left is the ATF fluid.
Dealer that specializes in Prius. Has a 1 year warranty on the engine work. Also new tires. Not sure why the transmission fluids were not changed. They agreed it should be done and was probably an oversight. I went to the closest Toyota dealership and picked up my supplies for the transmission fluid change. Crush washers, oil pan drain plug washers, ect... I also purchased a new HV air filter/screen that is installed on the exterior of the HV air vent instead of behind it. What a pain. So I removed the internal screen and snapped the external one on the vent. Much easier to clean and is visible instead of out of sight out of mind.
I totally agree, ones the engine starts knocking due to the EGR valve and intake manifold get stopped up, they have to be cleaned right away, if not they will cause a head gasket issues later.
2015 has the upgraded pistons and rings so with the repairs you have done, you should be good to go. I drive a 2015. Had the full monty done at 65k and installed Oil Catch system.
I think so as well. Had the transmission serviced today. Fluids were pitch black. No hint of the original color. Should be good to go now. Hard to believe that didn't hurt the transmission. Keeping fingers crossed.
Transmission fluid is made to absorb impurities over time. It also makes a great cleaning fluid for auto parts in general.
