I just bought this vehicle and seller didn't tell me about hybrid battery being very weak, I have not even driven a mile on it since I bought it. Bought a used battery and installed it yesterday, It did show the battery screen initially but vehicle won't shift into drive or reverse. I checked the connections, checked orange fuse plug is inserted correctly and pushed down, gave it another go and now I don't see the HV battery menu on the screen, it just shows a battery sign and bunch of other lights including the Triangle. Before the battery swap, car was starting fine and running ok except the weak HV battery. Please help if you can.
Welcome to PriusChat!! It doesn't sound like you purchased the HV battery from : Hybrid Battery Shipping and Mobile Installation Home Hometown Hybrids What made you think it was 'very weak', were there OBD2 codes or what "signs" did you notice? Without knowing what codes you have now, it could be that the used used battery is far weaker that the old 'very weak' battery. Did you have to give up your old 'very weak' battery as a core exchange, and did they offer a warranty on this used HV battery purchase? Consider asking for a refund and your old battery back, which may allow you to start the vehicle again. FYI : you're moderated until you've posted 5 times.
Update! so I opened the extra battery I bought and immediately realized something was wrong with it. The first few cells are toast, found some better cells after may be 7 down and pulled them out and replaced with the ones in my battery. I opened the battery which came with car, found two bad cells showing 6.5 volt or something.
Finally put together everything, tried to jump start and everything went dark, I have no power whatsoever. I'm baffled and don't where would I start. Blown fuse somewhere? please help me. I should have used the under the hood jump start connection.
IF you accidentally got the booster cables reversed, then you probably blew the 100A main fuse that's located in the underhood fusebox. May have done more damage. What voltage do you measure at the 12V battery connections? What do you measure at the underhood jump point? That's assuming that all the connections at the 12V battery are tight and clean. Use the search feature for "100A fuse" or "100A main fuse". Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Ops sorry, I get confused on this forum. I found a burnt cable connector on the positive terminal. I don't know how to post pictures here. I'm in Houston, can someone please help me. Thanks
Did you ever receive the OBD2 reader, or do you have any codes (DTCs) worth posting here? That red triangle could mean a bunch of things, best to first read/record the OBD2 codes, then look them up for step by step diagnostics.
Yes I did receive it but it says it’s only good for Android and none of us have an android phone. Can Autozone pull the codes?
Depends on the OBD2 reader that they have on hand, every location (even within the same chain) may offer a different reader, try them all.
