Need a little help. My MFD in my 06 is very dim. After some research it seems my best option is to just replace the unit with a known working used one. I have found one local that is a 86110-47260. Mine is a 86110-47230. I realize the 47260 model is with after market amp and Bluetooth which mine does not have. So my question is can I not haha l make this work. The last thing is want to do is burn the new one up if I get it. I'm thinking of I could get pin outs for both units it would just be a matter of swapping pins if needed and of course just leaving the ones out for the features I don't have but I may be thinking wrong which is why I'm here asking these questions so any input or help is appreciated. I'm attaching pics of the backs of both units. Thanks in advance Dale

Generally what I found with Toyota radios since the '80s up. Is if you have a combination of plugs in your car that will fit into the radio or MFD or whatever you're dealing with and it allows it to power up generally it will work You won't blow it up generally speaking or any of that kind of silliness. What I've noticed is you won't have the right plugs You have the long and the small square and you'll need the medium medium rectangle or something similar to that scenario here it looks like you're good to go the plugs match You plug it up turn on the car and everything should be singing correctly.

Yes looked at that but if one had a wiring diagram could you just not change the pins? Never did really find a definitive answer on that post or others

I think in principle you could. It could be a lot of tedious pin changing.

If 47260 has external amp and Bluetooth, pins are required for those features, if your Prius 47230 doesn't have those features pins wouldn't be present.

    Google 47230 Prius wiring diagram

    Thanks everyone I've located a replacement for $150 and it's a 47230 so I think that's my best route.

Thought someone had figured this mod out already, and made a post. Can't remember if their mod was pre or post mid model year update.

Whatever happened with this that you get the 30 unit and just not plug in the Bluetooth and the GPS or whatever it is you don't have because the main thing that runs the unit is the plug on the far right looking from the back that has most of the wires in it that's the plug that goes into all the MFDs from this series of car from '04 to '09 The wider plug the blue plug and the plug next to the blue plug I don't think or required for power and for the display to work those are all the add-ons for the antenna for the GPS and so on and so forth but that plug on the far right looking at the unit from the back with all the wires in it that's in every generation two Prius and if you have power to that plug and everything is working in the car like it's supposed to if you have an MFD with that socket in the back of it and you plug into it I do believe it will light up and work with whatever features are in the car that it can connect to at least it seems to be that way with the five or so cars here I've moved one or two of these things around.
