I know this is mostly a US phenomena but we put up with your soccer matches (at least the women's.) The Super Bowl is scheduled to start in about 30 minutes. I look forward to the commercials, especially EV, to see if Tesla Google searches peak out ... again. Anyone volunteering an introduction for our non-US members about the Suiperbowl? Bob Wilson
Hey Bob. Which Super Bowl are you talking about??? Not that I have much interest in watching it... the Super Bowl LVII Chiefs vs Eagles does not start another week...
I didn't even know it was on - I had a vague idea that it was a bit later in the year. I have just Googled it, though, so now I know who is in it this year. I used to have a colleague who I didn't like in Hong Kong who was from Kansas City, so that seems reason enough for me to want Philadelphia to win. It is generally just those commercials you mention that make it into our media - the score will be mentioned in passing. It's a sport, like cricket and baseball, that I just can't get into. I find it too slow and too stop-start. I know lots of Americans love it, but it's definitely not my thing.
My screw up. Sorry. Some sort of flag football on ABC. We just need to have someone start a live commentary thread when it does. Bob Wilson
I can do that now if you like. They're all standing about facing toward each other. I'm not sure who is who, as they all have helmets on. They're all running at each other. Oh, now they've stopped. Time for a commercial break. Right, welcome back They're all standing about facing each other. One of them is shouting. They're standing still. No, now they're running at each other. They've stopped again. Time for a commercial break. Just paste this in to the thread next week. It should do the job.
LOL. My daughter's classmate friend lives a few doors down from Mahomes. I'll see if the next time she goes over she can ask him to see if they can have less commercials.....and just throw the ball more......LOL.
It is actually making the news here now. Turns out there's an Australian playing in it. From South Sydney to the Super Bowl: Jordan Mailata no longer regarded as an NFL sideshow | Super Bowl | The Guardian
There is media coverage of Biden not doing Fox(Soul) interview for this event. So history should be known Super Bowl interviews of Presidents Year Pres network done? ----------------------------------- 2004 Bush CBS yes 2005 Bush Fox ? 2006 Bush ABC ? 2007 Bush CBS ? 2008 Bush Fox ? 2009 Obama NBC ? 2010 Obama CBS yes 2011 Obama Fox yes 2012 Obama NBC yes 2013 Obama CBS yes 2014 Obama Fox yes 2015 Obama NBC yes 2016 Obama CBS yes 2017 Trump Fox yes 2018 Trump NBC no 2019 Trump CBS yes 2020 Trump Fox yes 2021 Biden CBS yes 2022 Biden NBC yes 2023 Biden Fox no == Tradition may have started in 2004. My entries '?' are all 'yes' I think, but I have not drilled deeply enough. Before 2014 it seems to me that these were softball chats; what team to you back? not unlike interviews about pardoning a year's Thanksgiving turkey(s). Got more feisty in 2014. Something stuck in Trump's craw about NBC in 2018, and thus declined. Something stuck in Biden's craw about FOX in 2023, and thus declined. == Let us hope that Superb Owl 2023 is not less fun for not having a pregame Pres interview. We may lose more for not yet having Tom Brady in the FOX color booth. Money money money These are both strong teams fully deserving this day on TV. I am rooting for ... M&M spokescandies! No pants, no problem.
Given how Biden owned the Republicans during the State of the Union, I mostly wish he'd take on the Fox 'spokesmen'. Bob Wilson
I’m going to try to keep a tally of how many EV vs ICE commercials are aired. I have3 little interest in the game.
brady would be a huge downgrade from greg olsen who is fairly articulate, no interest in presidents thoughts on sports
