I'm looking to buy a PP to replace my totaled Gen3. In addition the owner's manual, what's the list of the accessories or other stuff that come standard with a Prime? I'm asking because I've seen a few listings where the dealer shows nothing. I also called a place where the sales guy was entirely clueless about this.
I have a rubber liner in the trunk. I am not sure what else. I asked about seat covers. The dealership took my name and contact info, on a list. Saying that nationwide other owners would want them too. So as soon as a seat cover manufacturer starts making them, they would contact me. That was in 2017, I have not heard back since.
Thanks! One of the dealerships texted me back to say that his PP comes without a charging cable. He thinks it was stolen at auction and he's somewhat flexible on the price. That cable seems to range from $390 +tax on ebay to $704+tax at the only US stealership I found that has one in stock so I could conceivably negotiate with that in mind if the car tests out okay.
You can find level 1 EVSEs for less online. The Prime only comes with level 1. If you're thinking of adding a 240v outlet to your garage or already have one you can get your hands on a new level 2 EVSE for about the same price. You can go to the Toyota website and create an account, add the VIN for the car you're considering to your account and it'll show you everything it was supposed to come with including port/dealer options it came with. Not that there's much to be included. Floor mats, EVSE, door guards...
Thanks, and wow, I've used or owned the first 3 gens and I had no idea! But then, I never needed to do this (most reliable cars we've ever owned, my daughter still drives my old Gen2 with around 220K and everything original.) I will definitely do this when I get a Prime though. Apologies for the dumb question, but what does the EVSE acronym stand for? Just the cable, or more?
Thanks so much, I will make sure to add these nooks and crannies to my list. DANG, I would have never thought of looking there and if something's missing... Am I correct in assuming that Toyota just tosses the charging cable in the trunk then? Or is it perhaps hiding underneath a seat?
Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment. It is what Toyota calls a "Charging Cable". And many erroneously call a "Charger". The actual charger is inside the car. The EVSE is just a smart cable that communicates with the car's ECU and senses the voltage from the wall and provides appropriate current to the charger. L1 EVSE works at 120v and L2 works at 240v. Yeah, if you are buying used PP, EVSE is often missing. Also, the tonneau cover (cargo cover) for the rear trunk is removable and was included when new. This item also is missing often from the used PP. Another thing is wheel covers. Many owners of PP often remove the wheel cover and may forget to re-attach it when it is sold. Floor mats (both front and rear) and cargo mats are optional accessories that are not included with the car but are often already installed at the port. You may or may not get them when you buy used.
When the cars were sold new the charging cable was typically laying in the back cargo area on top of the traction battery. There is actually a storage area for the charging cable in the same space that #2-5 are stored in the pic I provided.
