Hi new friends, We're new Prius people with a 2004, trying to learn all we can (this forum is an AMAZING resource!) - we noticed that the dates on the console don't allow us to input anything over 2022... this is probably a silly question but is there a way to update the date info? I've tried searching but cannot find anything that makes any real sense, so hoping one of the expert owners here can offer a suggestion. Thanks in advance!
I think a bit more explanation is needed. What EXACTLY are you trying to do.......set the clock ? If not that, then what ??
What is it on the dashboard that you enter dates for? our 2010 has a 12 hour clock; that’s all. As far as I know.
Sorry, you're right I should have explained more. We're trying to set up some of the calendar reminder features, like maintenance reminders for example. Yes, we can do that on our phones, but if there's a way to update the software on the car that would be neat.
Ours has a bunch of calendar features and a maintenance planner where you enter in next dates for maintenance steps. I'm guessing from the replies thus far no one has ever used these I know we can of course track a maintenance schedule on our phones, this just seemed like a software issue that might be solvable via an update. And if this small thing needed a software update, maybe some other things we're not fully aware of yet might too. I appreciate this likely seems like a very trivial and stupid question, but as I mentioned we're very new to Prius (and really liking it so far even though ours is elderly) so very much in the Newbie phase of wanting to know everything no matter how trivial. Thank you for your patience and reply!
Typically, maintenance reminders are fixed and not changeable by the owner. You need to see your dealer about this.
but if the software is comparing the set date to the current calender, will the notification happen? i don't even know what it thinks the current year is. reminds me of y2k
Sorry the age of the vehicle in question didn't register with me the first time around. THIS might be your only solution, since it is HIGHLY unlikely that any "updates" are available for a soon-to-be 20 year old vehicle. Certainly worth asking though.
I haven't looked at that feature in ages. I checked on a 2007 and its calendar goes up to Dec 2024, so it seems the calendar got updated in the 2006 refresh. I guess Toyota expected a fifteen to eighteen-year life for the car. I don't quite understand why ceiling dates are implemented for apps like this, it seems an unnecessay complication. As you surmised, not many people use that feature. I think it is more a case of being in the habit of doing it the old-school way and not remembering that it's there.
I have a 2004 Prius and the maintenance schedule is limited to 2022. I am gettng the maintenance yellow light when I start the car. So I tried to update the schedules and was not able to. Is there a solution?
The maintenance light and the calendar are totally unrelated to each other. The owner's manual has the procedure for resetting the maintenance reminder light.
chap, this might be a solution. i love the reminders. my 04 only goes to 2022... i forget if date is mandatory... pretty sure it can not be backdated. ill try tomoro. thx.
Dates aren’t mandatory. I’ve started using the miles feature after getting the 2022 date error by hitting delete after selecting a tile (oil change, oil filter, etc.,); confirming the delete; selecting distance and then entering the mileage for the next reminder and “ok”. You may be able to use the delete all function if you just want to erase them all. I think they need to be set individually though. Hope that helps.
