    Thank you for the article.

    For us the Prius was the gateway car that led us to buy a PHEV which will eventually probably lead us to a fully electric EV.

    The Prius made me realize how much money I could save on transportation cost with an efficient vehicle.

    There's a Sticky above, titled;

    " The story behind the birth of the Prius"

    It looks like the author copied much of what we all previously said in the sticky.

    in 2002 or 3, i wanted a gen 1, but could not find one iirc. i put my name in for a gen 2.

    when it came in, it was like Christmas morning!

    18 years of prius, and i've never looked back.

    with the plug in, i can't go back to non plug in, but i will consider the gen 5 prime if they haven't ruined it too much.
    prius also led us to buying a hycam in 2008 and 2013. if they made a plug in, i would buy it.

    toyota certainly led the way in hybrid technology and acceptance.

    Same. The Prime ruined hybrids for me haha. I’d want a plug-in of some sort ideally. But either way, the new Prius is still impressive and really a good way to get someone into a hybrid rather than gas only.

    I was trying to decide between the Honda Civic hybrid and the Gen1 Prius. It was a close call but when the Gen2 was announced, we got on the waiting list and 6 months later I was driving my 2004 Prius and was hooked on efficient driving for the next 288k miles and 12 years. It lasted long enough to thankfully skip the Gen3 and now drive a Gen4.

    The Gen 2 Prius gateway drug led many to the hideous gen 1 Nissan leaf. But the Gen 2 Prius was so great that many of those Leaf victims were still willing to give another try .... willing to still move on to better plugin things. Thinking ford - Chevy - Hyundai - Tesla - as well as Toyota's RAV4 plug-in.
    Many of Toyotas competition's conquest sales originated from Prius.
