I hope you can get more interior shots and overall specs tomorrow - definitely interested. Thanks.

Very interesting - I may make this my first Prius purchase. 6 second 0-60 seems like an incredible leap or am I wrong? Looks fantastic, inside and out to my eyes. Really, really wish they had shared more specs.

So, to be clear, this is the same as G3+PIP and G4+Prime. No range extender, no EV version.

    Is that right?

It looks like there are exactly zero vehicles on the market that interest me.

Solar is back, and better than ever.

"PHEV models are equipped with a second-generation solar charging system that achieves a more efficient conversion of solar energy into electricity. This generates power equivalent to driving up to 1,250 km per year*4*6. Electric power generated while parked is used to charge the drive battery, with the system not only supplying electricity for driving but for air conditioning and other functions as well. Electric power generated during driving is used to supplement the auxiliary battery system."

    My Impressions:

Imho, very nice looking car. It keeps the basic styling of the Prius.
He said that the 2023+ PHEV (plug in) would get at least 50% more distance.

    However, no mention of cost.
It's likely that the cost will be ~10%+ more than the Gen4. That's because raw material cost has sky rocketed.
For next year, many other manufacture's vehicles prices have gone up 10-20+%.

    I like the Gen5 car.
However, I was "Paid $7,500" to buy my Prime. And that was at the 2022 price.
Imho, for me, the at least $12K+ it "would've cost me" to get a Gen5 verses a Gen4, wouId not have been worth it.
I don't know about any Toyota rebates.
For me, I got a $1,500 Toyota rebate, plus the Federal Tax Credit (bought in April), and the Mass EV refund.

For people looking to buy a new car, I'd have to see the cost different between the Gen5 and the Gen4, before I'd suggest that someone pass up a new Gen4 on the lot, and wait for a Gen5. Especially, if the PHEV has a bigger increase, because of the bigger battery pack.

Until I see some justification for the 19" rims, I'm going to say that it's a Very Bad decision (unless it's only an option).
Tire and rim prices will be very high. And, the smaller sidewall of a 19" rim, will telegraph road roughness a lot. And, even more with a Low Rolling Resistance Tire.

Also, don't forget, ONLY ~20% of America is on the West Coast. And, the upper half of the West Coast also gets snow.
Hence, the need/strong desire for snow tires. Heck, for my snows, my 4 Blizzaks, 4 rims, 4 TPMS, and mounting was over $1,000.

I also have a set of 17" Blizzaks for another car, and those are much more expensive than the 15" Blizzaks that I just bought.

    Where did you find that?
Google doesn't have any of that text yet in it's index.

Well, that would have to be the first Prius that I didn't hate at first sight!

He said that the PHEV would get at least 50% more range than the current Gen4 Prime.
The numbers floating around, are ~43-50miles. But, that's all guesses.

Similar to the guesses for the Gen5 body design.
Wow, they nailed it. They said that the Gen5 Prius would have 4 wheels, and it does. Wow, they are geniuses! ;-)
    Lmao!

The problem is, I'm getting to the point where I start the engine only a couple of times a year for road trips. What's the point of maintaining an ICE if it's only used a couple of times a year?

0-100km/h in 6 seconds. I wonder what it is in EV mode since that's pretty much the only mode I'd use. And I wonder if they made interior storage worse yet as they did in my G4 compared to my G2.

I'm getting 36-38 miles of range in my 2017 Prime in EV mode. "Over 50% more" is over 54 miles. I wonder if the extra range is from improved efficiency or a larger battery.

"With the PHEV, the battery pack is located under the rear seat instead of in the cargo area, giving the new Prius a lower center of gravity and increased cargo capacity. Together, these features deliver a balance between sporty driving performance and improved ease of use."

    We get our trunk back!
