What's your remaining tread depth? Pick up one of tread depth gauge; you can see where you're at. Anything less than 4/32" I'd start shopping.

 

OP is in SoCal. Both legally and practically, they can run with thinner tread than those of us who have rain and snow.

At least, until they travel out of SoCal, or up to a ski hill.

 

What are they, maybe Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus? I noticed those on a Prime parked up the block this morning. Whatever they are, with 52K on them, and no complaints (?), I'd get the same. Post if they're the EP422 Plus btw, I'm curious.

I might go for those if there's a next time, believe they're available in our 215/45R17 size. Currently have Michelin Primacy MXM4, and they inflicted a punishing drop in mpg when new. Slowly recovering... And yeah, they're labelled Green-X (Michelin's LRR badge ). Good road feel, and wearing well though.

 

They look pretty dang good.

 

Those are 80k/90k mile tires. I wouldn't worry about them just yet.

 

Again, do invest the $5 or so in a tread depth gauge, see where you're at.


Weird phenomena: when I click on the Amazon link in my first post, the price is now about double. Seems like attention bumps the price??

 

It's always good to have "honest" pros look the tires over, check their condition. Especially when they're aging. FWIW, a dedicated tire shop is likely better than dealership.

But yeah, tread depth gauge is good to have, to understand where you're at, how long before you'll need to replace.

Pennies don't exist up here anymore, more's the shame.

 

That sometimes happens to me too, though I haven't seen anything go up double. Camelcamelcamel.com sometimes reveals price volatility.

Some of yours are still circulating down here, where they can blend in with ours. The few people who still sometimes use coins here might be able to 'rescue' a few.

 

Funny: US change is accepted without a blink up here. But last time I was in the States, they balked at any Canadian coinage. Can't say I blame them, it is devalued roughly 25%.

I hear what you're saying about cashless too: went that route with the advent of Covid.

 

^ The larger Canadian coins are more noticeably different, have a greater value difference (for those of us who still value coins enough to not just throw away), and won't work in our remaining coin-operated vending machines to be surreptitiously laundered away.

But pennies? The penny is where U.S. and Canadian coinage are the least distinguishable, where the 'lost' value is the least (now less than the minimum wage value of the time to separate them), and we don't have any vending machines that still take even our own pennies. It has reached the point that when I unload pennies by using a dozen or more in making exact change, cashiers may not bother to count them. Just drop them all in their coin tray uncounted.
